Bobcat hunting Prescott,AZ ????
I am still planning on a move early next year to the Prescott area and would like as much info about the Bobcat popultion there as I can glean and what area close to Prescott an old Bobcat hunter could run his dogs without too much heart ache from the local citizens. I am not going to give the local Lion hunters any worry if I caught one it would be by accident not on purpose, unless there so many I can't find a Bobcat to run lol. Any current info would be helpful Thanks guys....frank

Pretty much all the areas around Prescott are forest so you shouldn't have much problem. Bobcats can be hunted from August to March. Only need your general license to chase them. No limit on them. Hard to say how many are around since the snow doesn't hang around too terrible long so most guys get on Bobcats by accident while chasing lions. Good luck to ya.

From my very limited experience running a couple of those buggers, look for areas with lots of rabbits and you will have better luck.

Agree with Zach on rabbits also look for the turkeys south east of Prescott. The bobcats in the area prefer the thick brush and rocky ledges. There is a road in that country where you can cut several tracks after a fresh snow but my little brother and good buddies still hunt that area so I can't reveal the location. lol You will find though that the lion season is year around in some units and is open from Aug 1 to May 31 statewide so maybe migrating to the larger cat may be in your future. The tag is cheap after you have been a resident for 6 months.
