I'd say the dog is good to go. I had a bird dog i left at home when I joined the army. No one used her but when I got back, she still had the commands down. Plus hound has a nose, that remembers a smell. Id say your still clear, but I wouldnt pay much other thn offering it a happy retirement.
Get'em up there boys!

I'd definately think the dog was worth trying, for the right price. Do your best to get him in shape.
Don't buy the hype.

Do you know the hounds Health history the past 3 years :?: to some extent I look at hounds as Athletes . In this case it would be coming out of retirement  most will be able to remember the basics ,though YOU may have to do some retraining to YOUR style of hunting . The hound should be in its prime but you may have to spend some time to get it back in shape . I'd be thinking about 40% below his asking price . Hope it works out well for you.

If the dog is 6 and it hasn't hunted in 3 years. Then it hasn't hunted since it was 3. The dog may have been on alot of game but it would have only been for 2 years at best? If its a freebe or you can try it for a few months it might work out. Good Luck, Mike

If the dog has done what the man said it should remember. Hunt the dog first and see if its a good match. If he wants a decent amound of money for the dog and wont let u hunt it before buying it id run away. JMO
