silver walkers??

Postby bigmikeslures » Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:27 pm

Hi, been a while since I last posted.
I breed Walker Hounds and only PR known stock. (not a comercial)
These are PR walkers from a sure pairing.
I have PR Hank-R-Chief that has a silver blue colored head, very strange. These are his great grand children.

anyone seen silver walkers before?
The lines have faided but the silver color looks to be stronger.
Vey perfect looking otherwise.
Thanks, BigMike

I have seen alot of heavy riverbend flag bred dogs that come out grey. Some will stay definite grey, some will fade to a "dingy" black and some will turn a dusty looking brown.Never seen a litter with that much"color".Beaver Lake Lightning and Stylish Queen are two other names that I have seen associated with the grey gene.Whatever ya do don't post that on the UKC site you'll be hung for not knocking them all in the head.LOL

This is Hank-R-Chief. He has made a lot of great pups and he has a blue gray head.
He is a grandson of Big Bam Bam. 85-90 lbs.
You can't tell much by the photo but his color is strange too.

Dang those pups are beautiful!!! We had a litter out of a half brother/sister cross and 4 out of 5 males were that color. The one I kept is kinda of dull black now.. When he is next to dogs with black saddles or such you can tell there is a difference, otherwise he just looks dirty.. The other one I have seen stayed that silver color, just a bit darker..

I haven't tracked my grey gene down.. I am guessing it is on the side of the papers I haven't looked at yet

They are good looking, that is for sure!

I like the wading pool  When I lived in Pahrump I installed a mist system around the kennels. Worked real well. Good looking hounds....

Hey Josh, i am just a breeder now.
I hurt my back and was paralized somewhat. I had a surgery and it worked so I hope to soon hunt bear and coon soon.
Although many of my pups are cat dogs and very good bear dogs.
Most of my stock is from PR Hank-r-chief but now I tried two of my best younger dogs. This is an uncle and niece pairing.
I have seen people post here before about my dogs.

back down the road a few years, like in the 60's one of the fellows I hunted with got several from Dick Hershberger that had that coloring... Alan Criger would always jump at the chance to get them.. that is a long way back of some of the dogs decending from Stan's Sailor breeding

Hey Josh, I remember you.
Thanks for the photo of your grey puppy. That explains a lot.
Your pup was from Hank-R-Chief Who was as I said born with a grey head.
He is the grandfather and great grand father of my pups.
Almost every pup I sold on that trip has been reported back to me with some amazing accomplishment.
I wish I was still breeding that bitch, but Hank is still for stud.
I just wanted to do something a bit diferent this time.
I had a box with 10 hounds and sold all but the one I used in this pairing.
The only spotted dog, the others were blanket backed.
And you have a grey pup from his brother.
My nimber is (760)217-2665
PS look for a small female named sassy being run by a kid named Matt. She is a moster good hound and the kid is a good hunter. He hunts near you guys. She is the sister of Bones who had the pups.
Great hearing from you.

Here is Bandit(dog on the right) at another Lion tree...

Hey Josh, he got the name bandit because he would sneek up behind me and steal stuff. like tools or the hose my wallet or anything. He is a clever pup!
