just a dream
what do you guys think about a t.v. show kind of like the ax man . 6 or seven different cat hunters with different camara crews through a cat season. no kills just showing the hunting from how hard it is to find a track to starting and the tree. do you think this would help our sport or hurt it. do you think it would bring more good attn. or bad . i would be more than glad to take 3 month off and hunt .

Re: just a dream
I think its an awesome idea. Youre going to get good and bad responses. Might make people realize how much time and effort go into the dogs and how much we do care for them because i know the antis think they are mistreated and not cared for. Might shed a good light on people that dont know or have a bad taste in their mouth for it. Hope u get something started. Id like to see the races at courses pond again like they had back n the day when my uncle had dogs. So while youre at it get those going again too lol

Re: just a dream
JC,
Great Idea......probably won't fly.....that Damn Money Stuff again...too limited an audience for sponsors to suport.
To do it right production costs per episode will excede $20,000.00 per episode (TGA ain't doing it right!). Gary Roberson from here on BGH will be airing a show later this summer on the Pursuit Channel and folks can see the differrence when some one does it RIGHT!
Sponsors have to know how many eyeballs are watching before they will come on board...We would sure like to see the Idea come to fruition and would help anyway we can...however there are more Horseback Trail Riders than bobcat Hunters and several folks (including me) have tried to produce a quality show with this as the topic...sponsors failed to respond with enough support to sustain the efforts.
The good news and what makes this Idea a possibility is the fact that there are now 6 TV Networks airing Outdoor/Hunting Shows. ESPN, VS & the Outdoor Channel require too much "Production" to be viable. The Sportsman Channel, the Pursuit Channel, and the Hunters Network all require Shows.
IPTV where you watch a show on your Computer is a more doable option.(my old shows haveaired on one) These Shows can be Home produced on a persons laptop. All that is needed is a Forum....something like BGH with this ICTV capability....maybe we can get Buddy to consider upgrading his capacity to air these shows...he would certainly be able to get additional sponsors as well as expanding what he has. With this technology Cat Hunters all over the world with Internet access can watch the Shows!
We might think about Uniting under a "Norht American Bobcat Hunters Association" and starting our own IPTV network...this is cheaper than producing a Magazine.
Just somethings to think about!

OOPS I had to Edit this as I ment to write IPTV which stands for Internet Protocal Television...Iwrote ICTV which is a network trying to mirror RFD-TV and having much success.

Re: just a dream
That would be good. Even just a hound show or two on the outdoor channel. I get tired of watching turkey hunts and whitetail hunts. A traveling hound show showing everything from fox hunting in the east to coon hunting in ozarks to lions in the desert and bears in alaska. A guy would never run out of good footage.

Re: just a dream
Just to throw this in but from someone that has a first hand knowledge of the AX man BS you dont even want to drop that name when comparing shows. At least throw the deadliest catch down as a comparison, it was at least entertaining.

Re: just a dream

Re: just a dream
You know, I think people would watch it. After all, how many people fish crab or log and people watch the heck out of those shows. You'd just need 6-10 hunters or small groups that would hunt nonstop. There's a lot of "dead" time out hunting so everyone would have to stay in the woods and make sure that there was something worth showing at the end of the week. You'd think logging and fishing would be boring to watch but people love the reality TV drama. A show about the drama that goes on between cat hunters might be the next "Friends" hahahahhaha

Re: just a dream
Sounds fun! There is a lot to this stuff and Drama is key. You'll need someone who catches lots of cats. Someone who can't catch crap, and a few in between. They all must have personality. The nice guy, the jerk, the funny one and so on. Remember this isn't our idea of a good show it's the peoples idea of a good show. The folks involved in this will either be best friends in the end or hate each other.
I also like the idea of doing it in different parts of the country. Some snow, some dry ground, some north, south, east and west. Hope things work well and you get this going. Prepare to spend lots of time and money.
P.S. I'll audition for the guy that doesn't catch crap. I should be a natural at that spot.

Re: just a dream
TGA is like watching golf. If I was filmed hunting I might be jailed for harrassing the deer herds. And I'd end up in anger management. Why not shoot the large males in season? Its part of the sport right? Why stroke the antis when you can be a true person? Wouldn't it be enough to show all the cats left in trees and how hard it is putting in all the training? Just saying. It would be hard to make a show fly but it would be cool if you could.
