sundays hunt......big boar down!

Post by boardog »

whats up guys , we got this hog on sundat morning with just one dog. had three on the hunt but two pissed themselve and left my best dog alone to fight this guy. we managed to pull the bloody dog out of the brush on a steep 60 degree hillside. got the dog out and started to look him ove and my partner says ''that hog is still in there, and he is close''. seeing that the other two wanted nothing too do with this hog i grabbed my 41mag and headed in. 5 steps in and the brush explodes to my right. instead of fleeing downhill he breaks uphill right for me. i had to wait untill he was close enough to spit on before i shot, the brush was sooooo thick! when he came hauling ass into the very small clearing he was met with a big ol chunk of copper from the 41. knocked him back but he kept on coming so i hit him again...........then again and one more time when he decided he didnt want to fight me anymore. dead hog!

for a little perspective the guy in the first pic is 6'2'' and 275lbs.

Great story BoarDog. Pretty intense stuff. You hunt in the Bay Area? I'm in San Jose too, but spend most of my hunting time down south around Coalinga.

Great pup picture. What do you hunt with?

thanks, yeah i hunt just outside the city limits of san jose. small place that i live on but i got good access to the rest of the hills. just no driving so sometimes we put in 20+ miles on foot.

i ususally run cats and bmc's along with a few catch dogs. i lost some real jam up dogs a while back and have been slowly building my pack back up. not where i want to be just yet but im on my way.

Good deal Boardog, those intense situations is one of the reason I do this and the main is good dog work. Thats a good hog, putting big fellas behind a hog like that make the hog look smaller than it really is, I get it all the time in my pics especially when its a good one, Im 6'5" 320lbs so it gotta be a sure enough hoss hog to look big in a pic with me. Keep it up!

right on..thanks bro! if my skinny ass gets in the pic it will look like a 500 pounder, haha. thanks again for the deal on those staple guns. i sure needed them.

your right those situations are what keeps me coming back time and time again, not to mention watchin a 45 lb dog go toe to toe with a 300 +lb hog
