Is it legal to bait in North Carolina?
Re: Bulk bear bait in North Carolina
Which Club did you join?
Re: Bulk bear bait in North Carolina
unless they changed the laws rescently, baiting is illegal in NC.
however you can supplemental feed in the off season but only w/UNPROCESSED vegetable based feed, which basically means silage type grain & beans and cast off fruit and vegetables.

if its shelled its been processes. it would pretty much have to be on the cob. it can't be anything thats been even mildly processes. the law pretty much states its gotta grow out of the ground. if it was me i would erase this thread cause the nc wildlife will try to hang you. trust me from personal experience. even with staying in the laws exactly they will tie you up in court just to make you miserable. by posting this you have set yourself up for harrassment from the wildlife.
pops even the things you stated are illegal now. its only private property. can't even supplement anymore. like i said it pretty much has to grow out of the ground. i'll dig out my rule book and give an exact listing tom.

So someone please clear this up for me i had friends that hunted over there last year in another county they was telling me that the club had truck loads of cull peanuts out you had to drive around them in the road the piles where so big and these guys never had any problems and said it was ok to do that
Re: Bulk bear bait in North Carolina
even though it may be legal doesn't mean the WRC fags won't ticket & harass you. do you really want to spend the time & money fighting them? if i could afford it, i would do it so i could follow up w/ a lawsuit against the pricks. but that takes money i don't have.

they have peanut fields their on the east coast but the placing of bait is preetty much out of the question. because some one tells you something doesn't always mean its true. i don't see the point of baiting on the east coast cconsidering the amount of bears their. especially on the county your in. my suggestion is this don't risk it. you don't need it on the east coast anyway especially considering how short the seasons are. if you want to so something make a food plot to an extent. soy beans, peanuts, corn field. they have year round berries can't remember the name. best advice is to get a book and contact the nc wildlife.
pops i have 10,000 bucks tied up in lawyer fees and needless to say a law suite is out of the question even though it took 3 years of my life to just hear a not guilty due to no evidence to support the case.

ok just looked it up. you CAN NOT place any type of bait on game lands with out written permission from the wildlife. you CAN NOT use any type of bait for wild birds wild hogs or bear that has been process salt salt lick fruit honey based anytype of processing etc. can't remember every single word so pretty much as of this year you CAN NOT place any bait at all.

Re: Bulk bear bait in North Carolina
the misconception on private propert and baiting is very common. not to many ppl read the rule book to see that up until 2005 baiting on private property was very legal and had two options it either had to be cleaned up ten days prior to season or couldn't turn loose within 300 yards of it BUT as of 2006 the laws changed to no baiting and has been whittled down to basically only naturally growing food plots. i sat in a 3 day jury trial were the baiting laws were clarified 500 times in three days

Re: Bulk bear bait in North Carolina
Lil Wasper I found a copy of North Carolina hunting and trapping regulations digest 2010. Page 44 under the big game Bear section it said placing processed foods for bate is illegal then it gos on to explain. (Processed food products are any food substance or flavoring that has been modified by the addition of ingredients or by treatment to modify its chemical composition or form or to enhance its aroma or taste.) It gives a list of stuff you can't use sugar, honey, syrups, oils, salts, spices, peanut butter, and so on. So we can't leave those yellow acorns in the barrel to long. It goes on to say it is not illegal to turn dogs loose in the vicinity of a non processed food products. So I thank were good to go.
