Hi, welcome. Nice to see another desert dweller on here. Looks like some nice pups you have there. Walkers and a redbone right? Did your dad hunt with hounds?

Welcome.
If that AJ stands for Apache Junction, you're right close to some smokin nice lion country in the Superstitions! My brother lived right at the base of the mountain, and moved just as the weather was cooling off! :x

I cant figure out how to answer questions. This web page is a little confussing. Or I am a little slow. Anyways that would explain taking on four pups, in the house. Its probably closer to the truth than balls or nerve. heehee. Yes by AJ I ment Apache Junction Benny. Ive seen one scratch so far. 2 walkers a bluetick and a wobbling bawler redbone:)

I don't remember the name of the road, but it's the last stop light headed east. Turn north right there, it goes through a subdivision, past a school. Stay on that road and it will turn to dirt. Stay on the main dirt road, and follow it to a ranch house. The guy that lives there works for the guy that has the permits and country around that part of the mountain. He would know how to get around, and where the freshest lion sign is.

Im not sure if your talking about Kings ranch road or Idaho. either you pass a school. Kings ranch is actually Gold Canyon. I have a ranch 5 miles east of Superior and know that country like my house. And the neirest neighbor is running cattle agian so is a great help on the sign up there. I will try to figure out who you are talking about here. I am hopefully going to have a handle on the basics in a month. I got them out running with me about 2 1/2 hours a day in the hills here in north AJ. Im learning as we go:) I have em trained to come to an ol cow blow horn. And yesterday they all had there first lesson is choya! Spent the rest of the day picking cactus! Its been a great experience but here in a about a month I would like to throw in with someone with an older dog.

The country I'm talking about is, I believe, east of Gold Canyon...maybe I'm wrong. I could drive there, just can't remember good enough to give directions. Get sorted out in that country and next winter I don't mind comin over and hunting some. I miss that Sonoran Desert pretty bad!

I know where you are talking about now. Geez I havent been out there since the Johnstons ramroded that ranch. (before the sub division existed.) It is pretty country. Our place is about 18 miles SE of there, Alittle higher desert. And that would be great.

Do you know where the Boyce Thompson Arboretum is? About a mile east of that, on the north side of highway 60. Where Queen creek passes under the highway, and meets alamo canyon wash.
