What to feed during Dog trials/competition

Post by Nubie »

This question may have come up at some point but I'm relatively new to the dog trials/competition venue and would like to know what is the best "high energy", "digestible food" for the day of the trials. I know sugar base food gives high energy but my dog is prone to yeast and it effects her after the competitions are over. That being said she pretty much doesn't eat (normal dog food) during the trials. That can't be great for restoring energy as the trials progress. Any help would be appreciated. :D

I think the best thing would be to only feed them the night before. I would not feed them the day of the event.

When I was field trialing foxhounds, we would feed tripe as soon as we caught the dogs up. Also fed the half a chicken.

My best advice is DON'T change feed.If you are getting one in shape they should already be on a good feed(actually they should be on a good feed all the time).
