Yes it was done very nice and it talked about the fact that most hunters do things right only very few violate game laws. I think that most of us would feel a little better about DFG if they didnt treat us all like criminals.

I always thought that this type of set up is basic entrapment. Just because it is difficult to catch outlaws doesn't mean it is ok for us to entrap hunters into breaking the law. Two wrongs don't make a right. We might have a lot less rules broken if they didn't place an elk decoy next to the road.
I do agree that the peice was done with respect towards hunters.

From what I was told most states dont have any form of entrapment laws any longer. Not sure if its right or not but I know we dont have one here in California. I found that out when I tryed to fight a speeding ticket I got a few yrs back the judge told me about it.

I understand that the judges have supported this action from law enforcement. The cops where real respectful in this clip. That was nice to see. I'm just speaking out against the decoy. Here's my point. Lets just say that out of 200 hunters ten guys are driving around looking the day before season or would take a shot if they drove by one on the way to camp. Ok, so we have ten bad hunters. Now, lets say two of the ten guys find a cow elk and shoot at it. One kills it and another misses. Ok, two crimes. One attempt and one killed out of season. Now, if the cops are putting a decoy out on a main road then maybe two of the guys drive past it and shoot. Now, because of the cops, we have two extra crimes commited that wouldn't have been if they were not emtrapping them. You could argue that the decoys deter crime. I'd argue that it didn't deter they guys that have shot the decoys. Anyway, I don't think it is right to create criminals or even draw out the bad in them.

Shooting at a decoy is not entrapement. Noone made you make that decision to shot but yourself. I look at sheep, elk, deer, lions all year long that I could easily shoot. But I make the decision not to, no one makes that decision but me.

I don't buy the entrapment arguement on the decoys either.Guys know its illegal to shoot from the road but they do it til they get caught.would rather they got busted for shooting the dummy and learned to wait like the rest of the people, than have them get a jump start on the season that everyone else wishes they could do to,but chose to wait.

you guys are right, 99.9 percent of us wait till the the season starts. the other guys mess it up for the rest of us. Thats not what the post is about, its about ca dfg acting like everybody with a dog box or out hunting is a crimanal. I told you guys about the montana game warden show and how the treated the hunters respectfull, now we have a video clip of idaho game wardens treating shooters and people with guns out there window looking at a fake elk respectfull. Yes there are on camera so maybe thets why they do it, i dont know. i lived in montana for three years, had run in with wardens, respectfull everytime. IF THE GAME WARDENS ON THAT STUPID SHOW ACT LIKE THAT WHEN THEY HAVE A CAMERA IN THERE FACE AND KNOW THERE GONNA BE ON TV, HOW DO YOU THINK THEY ACT WHEN THEY DONT!!!!!!!!!

Most of us dont have to guess how they act when the camera is not there we have seen it first hand. I cant tell you I have and all but two times in the last 25 yrs I have been stopped by a warden they have acted like ASSHOLES and when they find out Im by the book and 100% legal they turn that ASSHOLE up just trying to find something anything. And after its all said and done I dont get a thank you for your time, Im sure sorry I had to treat you that way till I knew. You know what I get from 99% of them I get a Im going to keep my eyes on you.
Now the two times I was talking about they were great and there is no reason that all of the stops couldnt have been like them two time. The first was about 19-20 yrs ago by Warden Young and he was amazing and treated us like people even thanked us when he was done. Sure wish it would have been Little that had retired and not Mr. Young. The sec. time was just this yr and we got stopped by two really young wardens that were from over in Fort Bragg area, we were even bear hunting. And even with them both being very young right out of school and the fact we were bear hunting they were both very nice.
But I got to say thats not a very good track record DFG. Two good accounts in 25+ yrs. Maybe we should push for some type of warden exchange program with Idaho or Montana. Or maybe better yet our warden could learn to treat others they way they would like to be treated.

Re: This is what Wild Justice should take notes from
i agree livetohunt, when i was 18yrs old i went duckhunting, on a refuge, i screwed up and had a couple to many shells on me. i got stoped by a warden in the feild and just said my ticket would be at the check station when i was done, let me hunt and was respectfull. I messed up i got a ticket. I have been hunting since i was 12 yrs old, ive hunted montana california and idaho deer and elk. I got into dogs five yrs ago so im no vet in the game, But since ive hunted with dogs ive been harrased twice. had my truck searched twice and had a game warden follow me 3 miles while i roaded my dogs down the pass. Told me he was wating to see what i wolud do. Then told me to kill everycoon i see. i know a guy from highschool thats a warden now, saw him at a bar one time asked wjhat id been doin, huntin and workin i said. after he learnd i run dogs, i told him, started drilling me for info, were i hunted , who i hunted with, what i hunted with my dogs, how many i had, at the bar. Right then and there, I said, SElf you should have banged his wife when you had the chance. haha
