The Old Boar Coon....

Post by sourwood »

Went tonite to a place I have hunted since I was a teenager, about 7 out of 10 trips in this perticular place ends up in rock bluffs where it's severly infested with Smoky Mountain Ivy Thickets, rocky steep country, well long story short, I had me & Shane Flamino's Doc dog ( a very young Gene Walker pup) & my old Kemmer Coon Dog Julie, Doc opened & headed strait for the bluffs as usual, about the time he got to where the garmin shows the bluffs & many a hole the race stops, but the dogs are not on there way back, after a couple minutes the garmin still shows them in the bluffs but I can't hear them & there only like 700 yards in there, we start to them & I hear a fight & when we get to the Dog has caught & killed this old boar coon he weighed 14 pounds 14 ounces & is missing some teeth, his back foot is as long as my middle finger & he has 8 black rings on his tail ( most I have ever seen). I would be safe in saying this old boy has ran from my dogs a hundred miles through the years, as I have ran him for several years a couple times a week but the speed of ole Doc was the end of him, he was full from eatin' out of a creep feeder my Pa has out for the calves & was a little slow tonite & he wasn't liking the outcome to much. Thanks Gene Walker for breeding dogs with the kind of track speed that is not seen very much in the plott breed. I sure am liking ole Pocahontas Doc.....
