Hey guys, if you've been following my other post, you know why I'm looking for a good vet in the Missoula, MT area.
I'm just looking for a down-to-earth country vet that's going to take a practical approach to treatment and is no stranger to hounds or at least hunting dogs. Someone that I don't have to ask to explain every other word in a sentence. Really could use some good advise here guys. Thanks

Pruyns towards Lolo. They are great all around vets - not sure how versed in hounds tho.

Not sure if you ever got lined out with a vet. I will second Pryun. The clinic out by Lolo is for large animals... cows, horses and the like. The office for the dogs is at Malfunction Junction on Russell Street, right across from the Fairgrounds. They are operating on one of my dogs tomorrow to fuse a broken leg/joint. Because of friendship I had taken him to another highly recommended vet, price I got for surgery was $2000-5000. I was actually going to Pryunn because I was trying to find a vet that would be willing to do an amputation and not cut it off at the hip. When she asked me why I wouldn't fuse I explained that I just couldn't afford to do that for a dog that was gonna end up being a tripod anyway. She said, well it will be $500 only a couple hundred more than an amputation at $300. And they have a great repuation, I will keep you posted on how Shoni does with the surgery and how the dogs comes out. Casey

Thanks guys...whoever suggested Pruyn was right on the money. So far, these people seem to know what they're doing and they're down to earth too. They got us in fast and the price for rabies vac. was less than anywhere else I've been.
