Suggestions needed
Well folks we, the poor saps who live in Washington State, live in arguably the most ANTI-HOUNDSMEN state in America. As most are aware we lost hound hunting for bobcats, lions and bears in 1996. In 2009 our very own Fish and Game Department deemed the use of hounds for coyote hunting as "socially unacceptable" and outlawed that practice. In early 2000s after MUCH pressure from 5 counties they instituted a Public Safety cougar removal hunt which then morphed into a 3 year study, when led to a few more years of "study". This year the Democratically controlled Legislature did not advance a bill that would have allowed hound hunting for lions to continue. So as of this momment there will be no lion hunting with hounds this year in WA or quite possible at all in the future. I guess trying to get ALL houndsmen in this state or out of state to join in a boycott seems hopeless and futile, so I'd like to hear any suggestions on how you guys believe we can bring at least a little hound hunting back to WA State. Thanks for any ideas and or suggestions.

I wonder if the lack of an extension or law change with the pilot program will get more public safety permits?

I sure am glad I have not purchased any tags or permit apps yet, as i have decided to not waste any of my money in this state for any hunting. I will now spend it in Idaho and have better hunting opportunities and more game to hunt. The only problem is I have to choose if I want to hunt Elk Or Deer cause it's not cheap but the hunting is far better than in Washington.

Unfortuantely I feel the same way, Im ok this year as I have a ID hound permit and have already bought my deer, elk and bear tag for there. But next year and beyond worries me.
Yes we can hunt coons here, but I just had my best winter ever up here and I treed 18 coons. The west side of the state has a much better coon population but within a hour and half drive of my house is sad to fair coon hunting.

if i was you i would be offering to take out your state lawmakers hounding for free ,and make it as positive an exsperience as possible even if its just to work your dogs on coon.you have nothing to lose by the sounds.most of the people who make the laws only know the neg. crap they here.it is easier for them to go with the flow. give them a reason to go against the antis ,and you may have a chance cause they have the power .

Id have a hard time getting motivated to run coons at that rate! If i hunt hard in a night i can tree 18 coons 4 times out. If we could run bears in MT wed be set!

Utah it's self seem's to be going down the same road other than stopping it we our letting the sport kill it's self off! (It seems to me even here in UT.) That your state is pleasing the political side to keep the heat off of their management, or money from different organizations that feed the the pockets of the management is making the decision before hand and letting you vocie your opinion to make you feel like you done your part to stop it!!!!!
