If this true, Why hasn't anybody filled a law suit to stop it?
I just read where they imported 10 Texas Mointain Lions to Florida to add genetic deversity to there "endangered Florida Panther", wouldn't this make them Florida/Texas hydrids and know longer Endaingered?
genetic test have already shown there is almost no difference genetically from the "Florida panther" and any other population of us panthers. however that doesn't have any star appeal or money making potential. so panther it is....

IF wolves are to be introduced to a region they should be the type that originally lived there (like the reds in NC). nonnative invasive species should never be introduced on purpose by anyone but least of all by Govt officials that SHOULD know better.
Heck no! We don't even want the Reds here in NC. The only good to ever come from coyote invasion was the halt of new introductions in the Smokies thanks to "genetic pollution" from coyotes LOL.

Re: Idaho Wolves..Holy moly
I just read an interesting book written by an old guy who punched cattle in the Panhandle of Texas in 1870-1905. He talked about hunting Wolves with dog's and described one of the local specie's as an "Artic Wolf' that was grey or Black and often weighed 150 lbs.He said they had followed the Buffalo herds down from the Northern regions. They would "pull down" full grown steers and start eating before the animal was even dead. There were also a variety called "Lobo's", which were large and powerful, although not as big as the Artic type. The dogs would "bay up" the Wolves and the hunters shot them. His dogs couldn't kill them and wouldn't even try. The Wolves were so bad that cattle couldn't be introduced to the Panhandle untill the wolf problem was solved. He also mentioned a pack of dogs who could easily run down and kill Wolves. They were sired by a "Kangaroo dog" imported from Australia that he described as "almost three feet across the shoulders", with a short, thick neck, who was crossed with a Greyhound bitch. The pack was comprised of dogs from this mating. It wasn't clear what type of wolf this pack was killing.

Re: Idaho Wolves..Holy moly
State of Idaho did in an attempt to legally remove them claming native wolves existed. Court ruled in favor of Ed Bangs' definition of a native wolf population as 2 breeding pairs for two straight years. This didn't make sense as the reintroduction plan called for the removeal of intruced wolves if Native Wolves were verified within 90 days. IDFG knew of approximately 18 wolves and wolves were verified with in the 90 days with out reintroduced wolves being removed.
