Bless you brother, and thank you for your service to our country. I myself served from 1993- 1999. I recommend putting in for Draw hunts that go for spot and stalk or bait. Hounds will not work for not being able to travel a distance. Good Luck Friend and God Bless you!

Thank you what im looking for is a place to hunt as im not familiar with Idaho. Is it legal for me to hire someone to set and maintain a bait and Bring a bear out of the woods? Thanks
Re: Disabled Vet Needs place to bear hunt in Idaho
It's only legal to hire a licensed outfitter/guide. Call your regional Fish and Game office and they should be able to provide you with any information you need. Good luck, and I hope you get the opportunity to shoot a big one. Remember to pass on a little bear, and don't forget that even a little bear looks big to someone that hasn't seen a lot of them.

I have bear hunted all of my life . But thanks for your information at least you tried.I guess that the only way to do it will be to drive there and do a lot of research to find someplace to camp and hunt as it seems no one is willing to give me any real information Over 100 people have read the post and 2 answers . Both answers were nice and thanks for that but sorry not of much help

If you been bear hunting all your life i'm sure you know what sign to look for and habitat.
Go do some scouting...I bet while doing this you'll see and met other hunters that will give you real life info not computer jargin.
Get some maps find out whats public and whats privite.Find out whats drivable.drive the roads and look for tracks and shit, sounds somewhat pretty easy.
Good luck to ya. Fill us in when ya get one!

considering this is basically a world wide forum getting two positive responses to hunting spring bear in idaho is pretty good. it is a hound site and that dictates the folks following them are able bodied or have found a solution to their handicaps or other personal restrictions. bears tend to inhabit rugged terrain or flee there under threat, the hounds follow. most bear hunters hunt remote areas to better their chances at trophy bear.
As a handicapped hunter there are usually programs in effect to help you harvest game within your abilities. I've found that most wardens or officers are helpful in locating good areas with appropriate access.
state laws probably allow you a helper in the field with out a guide license most states do, if you present your disability papers at the wildlife office. and get the disabled hunters permit/tag they should be able to point you in the right direction.
however if your looking for someone to maintain a bait for you perhaps a licensed guide is the only way to go unless the state might allow you to get someone to help with it and issue them a permit to safe guard them legally.
I think everyone should have the opportunity to hunt and enjoy the great out doors and hope your able to make the contacts you need to make it possible for you. good luck.

Re: Disabled Vet Needs place to bear hunt in Idaho
Look into North Idaho. There are alot of units you can bait up there and there is good road access, especially if you have a 4 wheeler. If you plan for the last week in the season in whatever area you go the bears should be moving hard. There are places in the panhandle you can go bait and bears will hit baits just the legal distance off the road. Look for dead end roads so the hound guys don't rig them. I can send you a GPS location of one of my old bait sites but I haven't used it in years. There might be too much snow this year but would work for a fall hunt. Good luck!

Re: Disabled Vet Needs place to bear hunt in Idaho
Thank you for your service to our country..........And god bless you brother.
I wish I could help you on an area to go to, but I have never hunted bear in Idaho as well. I did get my boy a couple hounds, so we will be giving it a go this year. Maybe if we are lucky with our bait sites we could help.
Thanks agian, and good luck.
Robert.
