i just joined on here trying to soak up as much as i can
been wanting hounds for a few years now. do to my daughter being born and other things havent been able to get them. well last week i decided enough was enough and got my two walker pups. so any help would be nice ive read bunches of stuff so far but any ones input would be nice to help me along the way. would really like to hunt cat with them or bear. o ya and i live in southern idaho so any one around the mountain home area that could help out with there dogs would be grand. ive heard thats the best way to train is use of older dogs

Welcome. If your up around the northern part and would like to go let me know. I got some younger dogs well see how good they are this bear season...

welcome to BGH and good luck with your pups. Sometimes two pups isn't double the work of one- it's increases by a factor of 3 or 4 or more the work and the time. Doesn't seem like it should and sometimes it doesn't, but by and by it seems like it is. Sounds like you have a good offer there from huntfish8 if your close enough to get together with him, enjoy the pups, don't worry about them starting too soon, work on simple commands while they are young and that will go a long way when they are ready to work on running game to make the time spent with your hounds afield more enjoyable and more productive. Took my 10 month old walker pup out 4 another training session 2day. He is very good tracking and locating the tree and even trees but he won't open up on track!
