That's something that I've never heard of, but I'm sure I haven't been exposed to everything (like Hagerman's covey of ex-wives, Dawg's sleek spandex in camoflage, Kev's brothel of plus size women, Nolte's enormous pile of Pabst Blue Ribbon emties in the front yard,.....). I have heard of people leasing a bitch to breed to, but that has been a long time ago. I think sourdough got his first wife in that manner.

Interesting concept.
But cost would likely exceed what it would take to buy them, considering that IF they were returned in salvagable condition I would count on having to clean them up and then rebuild them from the ground up.

I've seen hounds that would work for just about anyone. one thing I have noticed though is most big game bred hounds aren't like that. and won't work for anyone else.
I've got some you couldn't safely get out of the kennel, I've heard the preaching about aggressive hounds etc. they aren't aggressive, just protective. they handle strangers well in the field but don't come running up to them or load in their truck a definite plus in my book. Most are people friendly and those are the ones that occasionally go missing. I often think life would be more pleasant with only those fawning happy go lucky hounds until something happens to make me appreciate the no bs personalities again. others just tend not to listen to anyone else or me sometimes. so renting out hounds sounds a bit pointless. if your talking broke to the bone coonhounds with a handle a mile long then it is probably a workable deal, but a whole pack of hounds would be hard a hard deal.

I agree with George as well. One winter I did let a close friend and excellent hunter take two of my older dogs becasue he was in a bit of a bind. He had lost some dogs due to accidents and bluffs and such but was already committed with booked clients to catch some lions for them. Well I had hunted with him and knew him well enough and how he handled dogs I knew he would have no probelms with these two. well it worked out great he filled his clients got some young dogs going better.

Only a very few people however I would do that with.

Well I dont think i could rent one of my dogs with out my self but even if i did they would never be caught again. I lost 3 of them for 8 days and my brother had to run one down and the other two guys that have hunted with me and them couldnt get with in 100 yard before they went to run off.Jmo
