i cant be there but would gladly call /e mail anyone that would help. i have written to many colorado politicians the last 4 years with no response back. i have had countless discussions with the dow which has been worthless. i heard 2 weeks ago lion season was about to go under attack again. if i could sale my house i would have already left colorado. this is the 1st good news i have heard!

Here is a link to the list of State Reps:

I don't think it looks like anything to do with dog hunting. They only want to allow a spring hunt if the DNR deems it necesary.

Yes it is about spring bear over bait - goodby more sows.

Lion season per se is not directly under attack again. Wild Earth Guardians, the same group who tried to outlaw lion hunting-just a new name, is now attacking Bobcat hunting statewide. Total insanity, as we have at least 10 times the bobcat as we have lions, and we don't even scratch the surface of the total population. I hope this group (W.E.G.), is having fun stiring up worthless shit, because it will come back to visit them ten fold.

Its hard to tell from the wording on the bill but it looks like the only thing that would change would be the dow having more flexibility in season dates. The prohibition on hounds and bait may still be in place. If this is the case its hardly going to have an effect either way.

The way I read it this bill would give the wild life comission the power to decide how to manage the bears with out the 1992 amendment 10 restricting their dicision. This would give them the power to determine appropriate seasons, harvest numbers, and RESTRICTIONS ON HUNTING MEATHODS (these current restrictions are baiting, and the use of dogs). Baiting and hounds are not specificaly mentioned but they are a part of this bill. This is a step in the right direction. After all, whats the point in having wild life agencies if they don't even have the power to make these wild life decisions.

It is my personal opinion that the ONLY reason that this happened and the driving force behind it, was because of an oldtime sheep rancher that got elected to political office last fall, by the name of J.Paul Brown. Mr. Brown is the largest sheep rancher in this area. Last summer/fall he lost 140 some sheep to the bears, while his sheep were at or above timberline on their summer range. I saw the carnage myself and talked with his Herder during bow season up there. He is also a proponant for NO wolves in Colorado. Mr Brown has their attention. Now let's see if he can hold it and gett'er done! If he has his way...we WILL have a spring bear season w/hounds. I know this from personal comunication. Myself, and one of the gentleman that help save lion hunting here in Colorado, put this bug in his ear 5 yrs ago at a pro wolf re-intro meeting here at the Double Tree convention center. It was an open public forum and let's just say that the Wolf huggers, the D.O.W. and the local, liberally biased, newspaper did not like our ideas and comments at all. But hey, it's a free country. Now, I also think that this never would have happened, because he would not have been elected, if not for the current administration and our citizenship being fed up with the "Hope and Change" we are being currently treated to. So the main question I have now for the radical left around here is, "How do you like your "Hope and Change now"? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! GO J.PAUL......

Todays front page news of the Durango butt wipe...this bill was shot dead by lobbyist.

Ain't politics just grand? They can all get warm and fuzzy and emotional at our expense.

Brown may try to get it through again next year.
