Rookie from Eastern Oregon
Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself here ive been reading till my eyes started to cross. Thanks for a great sight like this im very interested in hunting with hounds and am trying to learn all i can before i dive in, i can already feel the addiction coming. Im a young guy with a ton of passion for hunting and i cannot wait to learn all that i can. Im looking to getting my first dog soon (probably a walker) but i am being very careful about the dog i choose. I appreciate anyone willing to help me out and thanks again.

Welcome old dogs are nice but start with a pup. So when you do all the work and train it. You can call your self a houndsman. But he is right you will save yourself some headache.. and good luck hunting.
Gettin western !

i will agree with the other two. im new my self ...she is a black and tan with 3/4 cameron blue tick hound she is 1 year old perfect dog for me cold nosed, and loud mouthed on trail ... its going to be expensive at first .all i can say is don't spare any expense on equipment buy the best you can afford to buy . i run raccoons and try to run mt lions out here its fun just to get out with your buddys and go have fun running raccoons happy hunting
