i got lucky with her a bought her from a guy that has lots of dogs . according to him has been on about a dozen lions dry ground and snow and 30-40 coons . how does he do on a caged coon does he get fired up . she is a natural hunter it is a male that's why i went with a female thats just me females will sometimes have the drive to please you in the field . i would say that he will come around its just going to take time with him my buddys B&T is 15 months old he is one hell of a dog too but she leads him he will find the track and open once he gets kind of stumped she will sort it out and off they go with her in the lead . . from hearing a few friends talk try taking him out by him self on hunts sometimes, having other dogs around he will just follow them and not get fired up on coons , i would believe me i have gotten frustrated my self one night she bayed three times and went quiet skunk other three dogs that trip got tagged . she cold tails and is choppy till she finds a hot track then the music starts , in the last four times we have gone out we treed one and and ditch bayed two in the same spot twice marsh land . try catching a coon in a live trap and not really start from scratch but do it with just him and your other dog turn the coon loose put the trap back in the truck and turn him loose and give him about 10-20 min to sort it out and just see what happens ,i would suggest some one on one time with just the two of you to see what happens with him each dog progresses different then others do , hope this helps you out ,happy hunting from fellow utah hounds man

Yes he gets fired up on a cage coon. He will not hunt by himself with out seeing the coon but I've tryed to steer away from leting him see it. I want him to use his nose he will go wherever my old dog goes and I've herd him open up some with my old dog. So u think I should catch him more coons and let my pup find them solo?

Thats what i would do to get him fired up but thats just me , take him out with you and a buddy have your buddy hold him take the coon out in front of him turn it loose so he can see it give the coon about a 5 min head start take the trap back to the truck and walk him up to where you turned the coon loose and turn him loose so he is solo and he has to use his nose . thats just me ,each person has there own unique way of doing things that's what worked for me with her . keep me posted on his progress with it

all that stuff is good but go to where you go during the night and do it in reverse during the day this way you can see the foot prints in the mud better and see what exactly he is running . later on in the evening is the best bet or early morning about hte time the sun comes up just not mid day too bloody hot how is your dog doing . he fired up yet or not . yea my whole gps system was 490 bucks but had nothing but problems with it she ripped the antenna off the third time out lost her for about 3 hours luckaly found her the next morning before work and traded antennas off my gps and the transmiter she fuk it up to with in about half hour or so ,so im going to get me the dc 30 collar now. it makes it nice to know where every thing is at any given time the truck the dogs etc cant wait till i can get one of those dc 30 herd in the future that the dc 50 will be a walkie talkie tracker as well the search and rescue have them now i think dont hold me to that ..
