demedectic mange
so my pups benn diognosed withe demedected mange(gay).so thier loadeing him up with ivermec..anyone have luck with this situation with this medacine..the further i read into the fine print it says that its not even recoominded for dogs and that its apposiblity it could kill my dog and that they take no responsibility.i whent threw the first 4 weeks of treat ment and still no progress.now they double the dose for 2-4 more weeks cus they didnt take into consideration that he was going to put on waight,. i was like duh he is a puppy thats wat they do.i feel like thier are bending me over .this pup is getting more expensive buy the each visit,so if you have some home remmedies hook a brother up..cuz the meds are iether gunna fix him kill him,or im gumna cull him.or do you think i should run him .this dog shows potential.

Ok you might want to give this stuff a try I have used it on one dog that had mange when I got him and it worked, its also all I use on my dogs for fleas and ticks and have been using it now for about 2 yrs. Got to your home depot, other store might have it but I know Home Depot has it, and look for BAYER ADVANCED Tree & Shrub, Protect & feed CONCENTRATE. Read on it and make sure its the 1.47% imidaclopid, you should be able to get around a 40 Oz. jug for less the $20.00. I have had the same jug for 2 yrs now do all my hounds every 2 months with it all my buddys hounds our 1 house dog and both of my mother inlaws dogs and still have 1/4 of a jug left. I only use about 3 tsp or one of them little cups that comes with kids meds each time per dog. I put it on the back then rub it in really good all over there bodys hit the underside really well then I hold the dog for a little while so it can dry. I have never seen it hurt any dogs big or small and it really works if they have fleas with in a few min they are all falling off dead. The dog that had mange I rubbed it right on the spots I could find and with in a few days he was looking much better.

Protect and Feed????????????
Why are you putting fertilizer on your dogs.
That is what the feed part is.
Yes i have a bottle and a half.
Not the Fertilizer type.
Here is the best thread i have found on it.

If I am wrong, it is not from trying.

Its the only one I have found that still has the 1.47% imidaclopid all the other stuff dont have the same level. I have been using it for over 2 yrs now treated 20+ dogs and it dont seem to hurt one bit so will keep using it.

Re: demedectic mange
I had two pups with localized demodex as pups. I used Ivomec orally and after about 6 weeks it was gone. Demodex is hereditary, and is something that is usually passed along, and they also usually outgrow it to some extent, so long as you treat it.
I'd keep the dog on a hight dose of the Ivomec, and maybe apply some NuStock. I used it as well. Seemed to really grow the hair back. Don't think it will actually kill the mite though by itself.

Ivermectin that your expensive vet and also Redwood are using, and also the Imidacloprid that's talked about are POISONS. That's why they work. And they're poisons that work especially well to kill mites. The desire is to give enough to kill the little bastards that are feeding off your pup - without killing your pup from side effects (Just like people medicine). So, you give enough, but not too much!peepster1 wrote:thier loadeing him up with ivermec..anyone have luck with this medacine .the further i read into the fine print it says that its not even recoominded for dogs and that its apposiblity it could kill my dog. i feel like thier are bending me over. this pup is getting more expensive buy the each visit.
Pup licking the ivermectin won't hurt because the desire is for it to go thru the skin and into the bloodstream which is where it does its best work. Which is why Redwood gives it orally. No chance of pup rolling in the grass and losing the poison, oh!, I mean medicine. Bloodstream distributes medicine (poison), mite takes a good big chomp, mite dies. If you give enough but not too much, the organs of the pup don't get injured. Lots of people put it directly on a bad spot.
Imidacloprid - I think this works the same. I do know it is sold as a topical (put in on the skin at back of neck and on spine) and it is sold in pill form (gulp).
This reminds me - It's time I go dose up my dogs with imidacloprid to prevent fleas.
Oh - The reason the medicine says not recommended for dogs is because it costs the drug companies big bucks to get it authorized; they know they'll still get the sale - the vets - and us houndsmen that are too cheap to pay vets to use their calculators, will figure out that if it takes "this amount" for a one thousand pound cow, then your 10 pound pup needs only 10/1000ths of "this amount" applied in the same way. "Didn't work?" says the vet, "Well, those mites are probably ill, let's dose up pup again and this time I'll give him 87 cents more of the poison. That'll be $133 for the visit, please."
