Garmin collar not working

Post by Jason Waterhouse »

I have a garmin collar dc-30 that wont let me turn it on or off. The red light stays on all the time.Any ideas what might be going on. Or how to fix it.

Jason,

Not sure if you tried to plug it in while it was still on but that may be the issue. There was a software update for the collars released a few months back that was suppose to fix that problem. You are going to have to take the back plate off and unplug the battery for 30 seconds. After that leave it off and charge the collar. Once that is complete try and update your collar. Just make sure that after you have updated the collar you leave it on for awhile. Then turn it off and see if that fixed your problem.

Jason,

First go to the garmin website and download the webupdater. Once you have installed it on your computer plug your Astro in. Launch the webupdater. It will show a screen saying it has found your unit. Update the Astro. Once you are done with the Astro turn the collars on. Now one at a time select your collar on the Astro, press enter, then menu, select upgrade collar, Your Astro will say ready to communicate with computer. Leave this screen on the Astro then launch the webupdater again. This time you will see the screen say DC (whatever you run). Now update the collar. Follow steps above for each collar. Once you have updated all the collars and Astro it is recommended that you leave them on for awhile. I just put mine out on the porch for 10minutes and call it good.

Hope that helps.

Also You can try to run the Collar update while Holding the collar Power Button down, Might take two people. But this is the instructions.
On the collar that has a solid red light, try holding the power button down and then running the update collar software. Turn the unit off, then press and hold the power button in and keep holding it. Then have a friend start the collar software update. If you accidentally let go of the power button in the middle of the update you may need to try it again.
