Any luck in the N.M draw?

Postby dirtydan » Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:04 am

I just received an e mail from Game and Fish. I drew an archery buck tag. No e mail on elk yet so I'm taking it as a bad sign.

Muzzle loader cow elk 15 and rifle deer 21..
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Brett,
Unit 15 is getting ready to burn up. I hope that it doesn't mess up your hunt.

Depending on the path the fire takes and has already taken unit 15 may get loaded full of AZ. bulls coming over the border seeking refuge. Or it might burn too and ruin your hunt. We'll hope for the best.

Drew the late archery hunt for 2B. Have never been there but heard it can be good. Will be a new adventure. Anyone have any advice?

The only advice I can give you is to try your hardest to get down there a time or two and learn the area. It's a tag worth putting some effort into filling. There are some nice bucks there.

I drew a archery elk tag for 16E first hunt, a muzzle loader coues deer 24, javelina, and a broken horn oryx for Stallion Range in September. Cant wait.

Brett,
I will be calling you and see if you know that country west of Mimbres.

WyoHunter,
Well I been putting in for that hunt for years. Like Dan said go there if you can before and yes it will be good. The deer really move in there and there are some great deer in there. Good luck to you.

Good luck to all of you on your hunts. Pray we get some rain, soon. Missy

Thanks guys. I was lucky to draw the tag. Can't draw anything in WY but have had good luck in other states. I'm going to check the area out this summer just to get familiar with the roads and country. I'll post a pic of what I come home with, trophy buck or tag soup.
