I grind ALL of mine.Make sure all the fat is removed and add beef fat.It is very good.I prefer ground bear over deer or elk.

We eat just about everything off of bear except the ribs, usually we freeze it all and then fry it up in butter on a pan. But the last couple we canned, and i can tell you that that is some of the best meat iv'e had from bear, we now do this to all except the back straps, they are usually gone the same day. It makes really good gravy to put on potatoes, or just to heat up and put on a sandwich, but anyway it's really good. Iv'e never had any bad bear meat, it really is all about the way you cook it and prepare it, but whatever you do make sure that all the fat is cut off.

In my experiance everyone that I know that has said that they dont like bear has eaten spring bear. All I have eaten is fall bear. The bears I have eaten were only eating berries and were delicious!! I cooked the steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and the fat was where the delicious flaver was at. It tasted just like prime beef!

X2 on the fall bear. I have tryed a few that were not great but still worth eating. hams, roast, jerky, summer sausage, stew, grind up, ribs, its all great as long as its first taken care of right then cooked right. I think it has a lot to do with what the bear has been eating and the size of the bear. I think they are alot like hogs you get a nice little 100 lbs meat hog its great you kill a 450 lbs it not worth eating. I know everyone wants to kill a toad cause they sure look great on the wall but one of them 200 lbs bears is going to be better to eat. One of the best steaks I have ever ate was a bear steak cooked the day after it was shot, it was marinated over night then stuffed with garlic cloves and slow BBQ'd over manzanita it was amazing.

I LIKE BEAR STEAK AND HAMBURGER AND SAUSAGE AND WELL HELL I LIKE IT ALL. I HAVE PEOPLE TELL ME THAT BEAR IS NO GOOD.WELL I REALLY LIKE FRIED STEAK. HERE IS A GOOD ONE TAKE THE STEAKS AND TENDERRIZE THEM AND THEN SOAK IN MILK OVER NIGHT,THEN TAKE FLOUR AND MIX GARLIC SALT PEPPER AND THEN FRY, YOU WILL LOVE IT.I HAD PEOPLE THAT SAID THEY WOULD NEVER EAT BEAR AGAIN ASKING ME TO PREPARE IT FOR THEM. IF YOU WILL TRY IT THIS WAY YOU WILL LIKE THE STEAKS. BEAR IS FAR TASTY MEAT IT HAS ITS OWN TASTE AND YOU CAN NOT FIND A MEAT IN THE STORE TO GIVE THAT FLAVOR. UNIQUE=
