Bear houndsmen in BC Canada
Bear houndsmen in BC Canada
On another forum a man asked about getting some hounds for bear hunting in Alaska. I saw an add for a guy that had dogs in BC Canada but dang if I can find the add. If anyone knows any hound hunters in BC or Alaska just hit me back. Guy took a teaching assignment and is from TX being a teacher myself as well as considering taking a teaching job there thought if I could help him out I would.

Re: Bear houndsmen in BC Canada
I would love to help as I think I had the perfect dogs for the job, but my female died a couple weeks ago, so that brings an end to the Chilcotin Treeing Piss hounds.
If I was him i would be looking for something 1/4 to 1/2 Border collie/heeler and 1/2 to 3/4 hound.
They would handle the cold much better and get the bears up faster. Great fo roadless country.

I recently bought a dog from Don Vanderlip in Ontario. He raises registered triggs and I've talked to some people that had dogs from him and they rave about his dogs. He sent four to Finland where they run bear, lynx, fox and wolf with them. I spoke to the guys up there who got the dogs and they told me that they are the best dogs they ever had. I got Don's old stud Thunder haven't taken delivery of him yet since i figured it best to wait until it got a little cooler here I live in Texas. I guess though if they can make it in Finland they should be okay in Alaska. Also Don tells me that his dog Thunder can also tree on his own, I got him mostly to cross on some walkers to run bobcat and hogs down here. I don't know if Don is on this forum but he is on Vargy's coyote board that's where I found him his name is trigg hunter.

I live in bc. When does he want these dogs. Trained dogs or pups? Does he care what breed they are?
