need ideas/pictures for rigging rails on dogbox
i am building a dog box for a 1983 chevrolet long wheel base pickup out of 3/4" and 1/2" rigid conduit. it takes up the whole bed and has a cooler rack between the toolbox and dog box. i want to build a rail around the top of the box for rigging dogs. anyone have any pictures or ideas of the right height, or any helpful tips. thanks

If you take a few min and look back in the old post on here you will find a ton of photos. As for how tall its really up to you but the taller the better I have seen more then a few dogs bail off and die cause the rail was not tall. I make all mine a min of 21" tall off the box with atleast 1 or 2 cross rails in the mid to keep the dog from getting in there. I'm not sure what you have in mind for your rail but if your going to chain the dogs to the rail with I-Bolts make sure they are under the top rail pointing down, this keeps the dogs from hitting there chest on them if you have to stop fast. One other thing I like to do on all my boxes is to make a frame that the rail is welded to that then can be bolted down to the top of the box. I do this so that if I have to change out the carpet or the plywood on top it can be done with out lots of cutting and welding.

Once you see a dog or two bail off and get killed before you can get to them you will not care how it looks only how it works.
