We have another initiative we are working on to get hounds legalized for cougars.
http://egov.sos.state.or.us/elec/web_irr_search.search_form
It is #19 at the bottom of the page.
The way the process works...
We wrote an initiative and turned it into the Sec. of State.
SOS office gives it back to us in their format and we collect 1000 valid signatures.
We turn in the signatures and the SOS proposes a title and summary. This is where we are with this and we will get the summary by Friday, July 1.
When that comes out it becomes public and all concerned parties argue for or against the title and summary that will be determined by the office of the SOS and the Attorney General. The way has gone down in the past we send in our arguments and the HSUS sends in theirs.
Once the arguments are read and the final summary and title come out we can start collecting the 100k (or so) signatures we need.
Stay tuned... check that link on Friday and write to the SOS to state your opinion of her work.

Re: New Hound Initiative in Oregon
I posted a similar message on iFish and it was taken off. They say my posts are too political for them.
I think there are still many out there that think this is not a political issue. It is without a doubt 100% political. There is no science involved. I hope you all are now starting to see this for what it is.
Maybe now we can sit down and debate this for what it is.

Re: New Hound Initiative in Oregon
Jess, thank you for fighting for my rights. you are a driving force and determined to win.....please get on board and support Jess in his efforts. those of you that don't know Jess, THE MAN DOESN'T OWN HOUNDS. he works relentlessly for YOUR hunting rights, has been subjected to more harassment from anti activist than any person would tolerate. Jess has taken the hit for YOU! the least we can do is get involved and support his efforts.
what you need to understand....h.b. 2337 was defeated, but it was not even voted on in the state senate. this however has raised awareness to the urgent need to change current policy. we have some solid supporters in Salem. we will not quit until we have returned management of our big game mammals back over to fish and wildlife.
the propaganda machines from the hsus, predator defense are the largest contributing factor of the decline of our big and small game mammals here in oregon. brooks fahy and sally mackler represent the largest kill off of deer and elk, even cougar suffer because those activist have taken management away from fish and game.
these two people remain stuck on stupid and that can't be fixed! what we can fix is restoring management in the best interest of our coveted big and small game mammals where it belongs. you can gripe about odfw. this is the best and most sound management we have. it sure beats what we have seen over the last seventeen years. without you and your hounds, deer and elk won't have a chance for survival. HOUNDS AND SPORT HUNTERS ARE A MANAGEMENT TOOL!
