bluetick/plott speed

LMAO!!!! Maybe I better get me some blue dogs to feed these slow azz plotts to as well. Got any extra oldman? HA ha ha! The only problem is that I have yet to have a bluedog stay on my place for more than 12 months and if I just fed all my plotts to them, then what? LMOA!!!

I've seen a few decent blue's out there do good well on track speed and I've seen some plotts that have blow your doors off track speed. In ALL conditions.

If you like blues then hunt blues, if you like Plott's then hunt Plotts, if you don't give a shit like me and just want to catch game then hunt whatever you want that catches game. If whatever your hunting isn't catching game and your out giving them the opportunity, get something else. Whatever hound breed you like to hunt, there are dogs out there getting it done...guaranteed...just go find them..

all my plotts are fast on big game too! deer, elk, mustangs etc. incredible track speed! never had a bluetick yet that would keep up with them on a trash race.

Blueticks are kinda like a ugly women at the bar. The more you drink the better looking she becomes. Before the night is over and after 24 beers, your in love. On your way to her place you can't believe your new prize has chosen you. The next morning when you awake you wonder wtf have you done. JMO

I have hunted with many hound hunters and I don't recall hunting with many that had Blueticks. That in its self should tell you something. Blueticks are not found in many trucks of long time hound hunters. You only see them in guys just starting out. Out of all the ones I have hunted with none were fast, cold nosed maybe, and I will have to stop there on qualities. Although, out of the few packs that had Blueticks, all always saw Plotts as well. You just never see or hear about Blueticks in competitions hunt like World. If they are so great you sure would think more would be around.

Of course I'm kinda bias, I like the 1/4 pit bull, 1/4 Jack Russell, 1/4 plott 1/4 Whippet crosses. Fast, gritty to the death and will kill strange dogs at the tree. I like it just like that, I don't have a bunch of other hound hunters wanting to go with me.

not 100% sure but i think when you run anything that stinks as much as a bear you can run crosses such as the above mentioned

I think this guy needs to get out more Or just open his eyes when he looks at all the pics on the forum oh yea and FYI catch, feild trials and comp races have nothing to do with hunting or treeing game on the mountain. I'll take 10 slow dogs that can actually hunt in the real world than a fast rag chaser. JMO

houndnem, i don' agree with alot of catch's post but i think he was refering to night hunt compition hunts.all those rag chaser's and swim race people go home when it gets dark. and i hope you are not like three quarters of these bad a-- big game houndsmen that think doing what is required of a hound in those rule books is easy and not worthy of a trully goog hunting dog. if so ,than the next time you are three to four miles from your treed hounds an another hunters hounds are barking wide open on deer down the canyon aways, and your dogs pack their hind ends up and leave because the other party sounded better.while all your thoughts of your client forking a whoping 3000 dollars for that nice tom you HAD in the tree. i bet at that moment being able to take pressure at the tree would be a worthy thing that nite hunt dogs all have to do. you would have liked your dogs to have been able to do. hope this did not come out in a mean way. just trying to make a point .that if any mans dog can meet the requirements in that rule book wether it be daylight or dark or what kind of critter ends up in the tree.he is packing around a hell of a dog, and should be what we all strive for. take care!

Yea, I'm mostly just givin this dude a little sh*t because he makes it sound like good bluetics are extinct because they're not winnin trophies and I think he's way off base. as far as comp and nite hunts goes, this is the bear huntin forum, not coon huntin, rag huntin or anything else. takes a hell of a man and dog to make a good nite hunt dog, comp dog, or a bird dog for that matter. but the topic we're talkin here is speed. speed on a cold bear track is not comparable to coons, rags, birds, or anything else. I just thought his post was 99.9% unaccurate and retarted! that's all. It's just my style.

I was using the competition world as another example of the lack of Blueticks. I'm sorry houndman, the Blueticks is becoming the thing of the past. Anymore the only thing one can hear about the Bluetick is it is crossed with something else. Not all, but most of the blue dogs are coon dogs. I just haven't seen any fast, gritty Blueticks, maybe you have. I do hunt big game, and a lot of it, and I don't see many Blueticks strapped on a strike rack. I have fast, gritty dogs, and I can tell you this. When I turn loose these crossed up killers a bear better have two thing in its arsenal. 1st, a rocket motor between its leg or 2nd, a shark cage to climb into!!

If you have fast, gritty Blue dogs I sure would like to hunt with them and compare. I want the best dog out there and you just might have them.
