Give us this dog his daily bread...

Post by 007pennpal »

Feed question- What about feeding dogs day old and bakery overload bread? I'm not talking wonder bread, but quality whole grain stuff. It comes in high protein and rates out better than most dog foods in content and nutrition. I've been experimenting with it because I have access. They don't get constipated, its less poop and not stinky. I'm at one third bread, one third meat and one third dog food often times replaced with unused people food. The people food can cause runs depending on what it is.

I fed all bread a few days to see how they did and I liked the results. Nice barny type stools. I was just wondering if anyone has any negative health input to a k9 bread diet.

Only draw back I can see is dental build up without something hard to chew. Also, I am carefull about hydration because of possible stomach swelling effects of bread similar to dry dog food.

Thanks for any input.
