Yes Duke that was too you. i was just courios becasue i know a guy that has some real good blues that run over in wisconsin too. I've had both blues and plotts, never have had good luck with the blues but that was probably due to shitty blood and a dog jocky from arizona, like i said i know a guy that has some excellent blue ticks, they seem to have alot better nose than most plotts but then again we had a plott that could start any track you put her on. I think if you got a good blue tick blood line around you and you can get your hands on them, i would.

ferjr,

Get a hold of Houndem and set a date/time we all can get together, any day of the week works for me. I have hunted all that country and I have nothing to worry about! Bring your 11 month old dogs that are out doing everything else you have. lol

Until you guys make a date and time, take care and good hunting!

For one thing, I have a full time job and cant just go to southern Utah whenever I want. I am not going to use my vacation time just to tree a bear for you, I am saving that for the deer rut. I have nothing to prove, my dogs are catching bear and anyone that knows me or has hunted arround me and my dogs know it too. I dont have to go to southern Utah to catch a bear, I catch bears all the time like 10 minutes frome my house. As far as my 11 month old dogs, they will be 15 months monday, I dont know were you came up with that, and they are not my best dogs but are on the fast track to being my best dogs.

Sorry for jumpin in your conflict. But. This post was about speed differences between plotts and blueticks. Ok, houndnem at the start of bear season I remember you saying the plotts you had were crazy fast, or something like that. I remember you said one was so fast it missed the tree and another blew it's pad. Ok. Call me a creep for doing my reseach on your site, but seems like you should call the medina boys out for not having the caliber of plott that you would like, instead of filling the guy that started this post head full of crap, and getting into it with everyone! I've noticed if it's not talk about the best lion dogs it's talk about the best bear dogs with you and you always seem to get yourself into a hunt off (and we never here an outcome). It's not my ego I'm defending here just my first impression of you when I met you last august pickin up Streepys pup. It's quite entertaing all of this, to me! But I enjoy hunting and seeing all breeds of dogs , and bbetter dogs than mine, alittle more than I like to talk bad about someone elses cull or odd dog problem. Maybe you should do the same.? JMO. And also not to kiss ass but your so called holstiens are good lookong dogs, but doesn't seem right that they should have to be put on the spot because of your debates. Tyler Peasley, Omak, Washington! Hunt on Garth!!

thanks for the 2 cents rezdog. that's actually more than what it's worth to me. I'm sure you did figure me out talking to me for 1 to 2 minutes. never said a dam thing about anything, just showed you alot of pics of game on the wall, told you that you were more than welcome to hunt with me if you ever wanted and then you were on your merry way. those plotts you are talking about are a prime example of what I've been trying to say all along. they could beat any dog in a foot race, but lacked the nose to back it up therefore making them slower on the track. you probably ought to leave those medina boys out of this cuz they've probably caught more bear than you or I will ever see the rest of our lives.
you really ought to come out here and hunt before you open your mouth. aint like I got a whole rez full of bear all to myself here. I'll still stand by my opinion that bluetics in general have more track speed than a plott. plotts catch alot of bear, but they need hotter tracks and they're a whole different dog all together. they're like a hound on meth.lol

I find this interesting to say the least. to say one breed is faster or has a better nose cant be done cause if we look hard enough we can prove it all wrong
You have a fast plott or whatever I can find a faster walker you have a bluetick with a cold nose so do black and tans
All hound breeds were bred to catch game same girl different dress

I'm not say ing that there isn't a plott out there that has a better nose than a bluetic, but generally speaking they don't. you would see more people dry ground lion huntin with them . different breeds posses different qualities. that's why they are a pack animal. once and a while we find a dog that's the total package, but normally mixed packs are more common. not all breeds of hounds are eaqual in the nose dept. just like it's hard to match the brains of a walker, looks of a black and tan, grittyness of a plott, etc. you will find dogs in all breeds that shine in all of these catagories, but not the breed as a whole. and I don't think a jack russel/ pit/ plott would have enough nose to even compare to a bluetic, which is what sparked this whole conversation of my dogs better than your dog. we are all hung up on what we are running for a reason. we have seen them do amazing things. the guy that catches the most game is the one who hunts the most and the hardest and has the best running conditions, regardless of what's in his dogbox.

Jered I tend to agree with you. Too many crosses away from the hound whould hurt the nose bad.
