I use the cheapest version of the garmin rhino, and they are not great. Lots better than nothing at all though. On the cheap version you cant load a map and the radio is only good for 2 mile line of site.IF I had not been mislead by the salesman and knew what they really were all about I would not have gotten them. I think that you are way better off using a garmin astro and a pair of cobra hand helds or something like that. There are radios rated at 35 mile range for alot cheaper than the rhinos.

You might want to think ahead about being harrased by sertain people beacuse they can pinpoint your excact location the second you get on the radio. Even though you are doing everything prefectly leagal its still can make for a pain in your neck.

I got a pair of handheld radio's that say they have a 35 mile range line of sight and they only get me maybe a mile in the mountains. Not worth the money for my area.
