Autumn Oaks

Postby Gary Roberson » Sat Sep 10, 2011 3:06 pm

Son Steve and I just returned from our first Autumn Oaks where we were trying to shoot a little video for CARNIVORE. This is quite a dog event with over 25,000 folks attending, over 800 dogs hunted and approx. 300 shown. I had a good visit and interview with friends John Wick and Mark Zepp with Garmin/Tritronics.
While UKC does not allow us to follow any of the cast, we did shoot a lot of the bench show. I found a blue dog that I would really like to breed to one of my females. He was extremely athletic, moved like a cat and looks as though he is going to be the first hound to win the Purina Points Hunt and Bench Show for a breed.
It was 2,625 miles round trip and was almost as hot in Richmond, IN as it is in Menard, TX. I visited with the Mayor of Richmond and asked her what the economic impact AO had on the town and she said that last year it brought $2.6 million and will bring over $3 million this year. I asked if we could move the event to Menard??? She was not very receptive to that notion.
Adios,
Gary

I did not take any photos but we shot a lot of video. If you go to the UKC site you can see where several folks have posted photos.
Adios,
Gary
