I don't know who your friends are that buy you a gift like that, but I'm jealous.
You don't have to buy maps. You can just go to miscjunk.org and download whatever topo that you need. There are also a few different sites.
First off you will need to go to the Garmin website and download their map software called "Base Camp" onto your computer and then download the maps to your computer and then to your 320 from computer.
Good luck,
Scott

If that's too confusing and more work than you would like to save a couple bucks, let us know we can get you set up very easily.
We do Charge a little bit more than a blank MicroSD card that you'll need will cost you at the store. .
But the nice thing is you'll just stick the card in the back and it will work, and if it doesn't then you call me and complain!.
My instructions are a bit more simple.. They start and end with with "Stick the card in the Astro and turn it on."

The more I think about it, I like Buddy's method better. I tend to be a little on the "cheap" side of things but a couple bucks for a loaded chip sounds like a good idea.

Re: Garmin Astro 320
Scott, I wasn't dogging you any, Hopefully that's not how I came across.. I was just typing a quick message this morning and didn't proof anything.
Honestly I don't care if someone gets a Map Card from me or get's it free online, I was just more giving them another option that doesn't have them try and figure out how to Install maps into BaseCamp. I've done it a couple times for Shonky Maps which is Some Australian Maps But I don't remember the steps to do it, I know it wasn't that hard for me.
Anyways, I was just mentioning that one thing I've figured out is I've offered to Send maps online and many folks just don't have the time, computer skills or just don't want to mess with it..
It's not hard to do for Younger guys that have natural computer skills, But No offense to some Hound guys, they are lucky if they can figure out how to turn a computer on!

Buddy, it's funny that you bring this up. We are CONSTANTLY fixing these astros for the old dudes we hunt with. Switching collars, turning them on/off to track, shutting off navigation, turning off alerts, etc. It seems to be more work than just telling them where to go.
If it gets beyond turning the astro and collar on/off and zooming the map, it's gonna be an issue. You might be able to get them to switch to the dog screen but that is the extent of it.

At least we have some way to contribute to the old timers that continually teach us all we know!!

I must say I just recived my card yesterday from buddy and it works great. As he said slide it in and BANG your topo works. Overlays your birdseye view nicely.
Buddy it would be good if you guys did a nice easy video for the old timers on how to use basecamp and some of the functions that are useful on the 320 that the general user may not know.
Also, if you have a card on the unit, can u view it on basecamp via computer, I couldnt get it to work?

I plan on making some more information and really working on getting some Help topics out there in the next couple weeks.
Currently I'm just trying to get a new website for our Double U up and running since allot of Users have had issues with our dugraphics website.
after I get that up and running, I want to work on making it much better, with allot more information and Help topics. I'll probably ask you guys for some help and maybe even come up with a Program like a Pro Staff or something where folks can write reviews and help topics and I can try to figure out a way to compensate them. That way it helps everyone.
But first things first.. I've got to get www.dusupply.com with all the products on it, then I'll have some time to Spend on some much needed projects.
But you have a good Idea, and those are the things that I really want to try and get done.
Buddy
