Try valley vet or revival.

But if you want my opinion, skip the vaccine and just go buy a bottle of doxycycline. If they get lymes that is what they give them anyway. If they show signs, just give them the antibiotic and see if they get better.

You can go in, get the test and then the meds but it will cost you twice as much. We've given the fort dodge lyme vac and stil had dogs get it. So I'd rather just have the right meds on hand.

They both work the doxy is just stronger. If giving the shot. You need to give 2 the first year. 1 then a booster 30days later. Then in the first year it's only 50% effective. In the years after 75% at best. Which is better than them getting it. The one that is worse is annaplasmosis. There is no vac for that.

Steve,

That is what I heard too. I had 2 dogs that were vaccined and still got lymes, so I pulled the pin on giving them the vaccine. If they show the signs, they get the 2 week, twice a day dox treatment.

I've been at the vet way too many times for all sorts of stuff and most times for me to gven go there any more it ain't good. Most likely you are going to get an antibiotic to give them after the prognosis. It will probably be Cephalexin, Doxyclyine, Amoxacillin or Tetracycline. If you got dog that's home stitched or looking rough, give them a week of those. If they are looking real rough, they will probably pump them up full of fluids. If you can before they get way down, get them to drink water with honey. Might have to throw a little gravy in there to get them to drink. If you get checked out and they tell you renal failure, grab the dog, go home and dig a hole, games over.

Yep, it is the same treatment for both. Always good to keep some dox on hand forever after. First sign of symptoms start it! It never goes away, just lays dormant.

It's called Bird Biotic. It's labeled for birds (obviously), not fish like the other non-prescription antibiotics. Most places that carry the fish stuff carry the Bird Biotic.

It's 100mg capsules of Doxycycline.
