Just getting back to MI.

Postby tlewis_2003 » Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:44 pm

I just moved back to Southern MI from Northern FL. I was starting to get into hog hunting down there. I acquired a half catahoula half hound. Out of hog dog stock. He is around 7 weeks old. I watched him bay a hog through the fence at about 5 weeks on his own. He always has his nose to the ground. I am thinking about training him for coons since the hog pop. in MI isnt that large. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I am looking for some people who wouldn't mind letting me tag along with them. Just so I can here the hounds. Like I said I just moved back don't really know that many people anymore. I am 26 yrs old. I did coon hunt when I was a young teenager I would give up every other kind of hunting just to listen to the dogs. Thank You. I live around Homer, MI.

You happen to know how far Port Huron is from say Jackson or Battle Creek? Just trying to figure out what kind of trip I am looking at.

Sounds like a plan. I just got back and start my new job tomorrow. It might be a week or two before I have the extra cash to drive that far but will def keep in touch. I am ready to hear that sweet hound music.

Hammerinplott. I was reading on another board you know Jeremiah Johnson. I hunted with him a time or two when I was younger. You know if he is still around the Litchfield area? Hunting with him was the first time I ever seen a plott. Other the peopple on here still no other invites to go out with. Maybe the people my direction have put the dogs up for deer season. Or maybe they just don't like Newbies.
