How many treed do you consider a good night?
How many coon treed does it take for you to consider it a "good" night? We're after fur and trying to kill as many as possible so the more the better, we like to get ten or more a night.

For me any we tree is a great night and were are having fun. But that being said I to put up all the fur and want as many as I can get. So for me to make the drive down to our special hunting spot I want to take not just tree but take no less then 15 to 20 per night. I dont kill everything we tree the little guys are not worth my time putting up so I go for the biggest onces first then as the season goes on I will let them grow up some and take them later on.

I believe it is all relative to the population in the area that you are hunting in. Some of the best hunts I have had the pleasure of listening to ended in just one or two trees with a big ol boar coon in it!

I'm not trying to take any credit from the dogs, but theres a few places around northern california, when you get in the rice country. It's pretty well thriving with coons and if a guy has the places to hunt can get on a lot of coons in no time flat. The problem with the coon huntin places i have is there arent many trees. The dogs catch and kill them most of the time and every now and then one will make it to a tree or get high enough in a briar pach.

I like 6-8 treed....really like doubles and bring the numbers up.best night was 20.....

Re: How many treed do you consider a good night?
5, 10, 15, 20, trees a night...you all do have very impressive dogs, I would assume they are competition dogs as well? Wow I'm happy with 2 or 3 trees a night and just hope 1 out of the 3 has a coon in it, lol

Re: How many treed do you consider a good night?
As was said before its about the areas we hunt my dogs are not some super stars well to me they are. But to others they are just dogs. We hunt an area with amazing coon numbers if you got the numbers you can put up a lot of coons. No competition hunting for me. To me its about having a good time with my dogs and the guys I hunt with. Im not into points, I would rather bring fur home to put up. And Rossco was right on with what he said till you have hunted the spots like he is talking about and treed over 75 coons in one night it can seam like B.S. But once you do get into a spot like that and see it with you own eyes your thoughts change. Happy hunting.

Is the coon population that high? I would have never thought you could get into that many coon in one night in CA. Here in Missouri I shoot for 6 a night. Most of the time my nights are short. My Boy's and I will hunt from 6pm to about 8:30 pm during the week but my best night has been 14. That is with no doubles, I just take one per tree even during hide season. I live in the corn and coon belt, but I save some to run another night.
