Just a suggestion, I've never seen a bear with mouth open and teeth showing in all the years I've been bear hunting. Just seems unnatural to me.

It might be unnatural to you but in all the years that I grew up in my dads taxidermy shop and in the shop I work now, about 90-95% of the customers that have mounts or rugs done want a open mouth on a bear, regaurdless of how big or small they are.

think im gonna go with the bear on all fours but the front i want to do something like having him using his front paws to slide the lid of a hollow stump like we use for baiting and was thinking of setting up so the lid being slid of to the side i could actually use as a end table also.

Here is mine, I didn't want the open mouth either, Personal Choice. Many days I wish I would have rugged mine out.

Hey Mike- yes Vince and Paul Gallegos in Santa Fe did the bear, bobcat, and a couple of lions for us.

How have you been? Did you get out and catch some bears? We are good, caught a bunch of bears, killed some, filmed some hunts, started some pups- then outfitted our elk hunts, and killed a few more bears. I need to take time and put some pictures up on here....

I have to agree with mondomutrunner, I really like a natural mount, I also like the front end elevated, such as have him stepping up, not alot just elevated a little. It makes them look bigger. Phil Soucy mounted mine and did an excellent job had his front foot up on a curved piece of dead cedar, and a closed mount. Looks just as if he was hangin out on the mountain doing what bears do. I think the big snarling open mouth may look cool at first, but after a while I seem to get tired of looking at them, just not what bears do. We have a mount of a huge bear, I'm talkin over 500 pounds that is stepping down, and wow it just kinda magnifies his butt and hides the front end, but thats just my opinion. Also, get a GOOD taxidermist, nothing worse than having an ugly mount you have to look at. You get what you pay for most times.
