Are all hound pups timid?

Post by Ought »

I just bought my first plott and he is shaking scared of my wifes shitzu and runs around with his tail between I am a little concerned since these dogs have a reputation of being so gritty.

any dog that hasn't been socialized properly will be that way . i got a whitedeer plott that was bad . my buddy bought him at 4 months old spooky as hell . but he's coming around nicely . just be gentle and spend alot of time with it ,treats and stuff it should come out of it . it may allways be spooky around strangers but thats a GOOD THING . nobody can steal a shy dog in the woods .

how old is the dog? To answer your question, no, not all pups are timid like that. Sure wouldn't be my first choice. A puppy should be harrassing the hell out of that sitzu wanting to play, it had littermates and parents that it played with, the new dog should be another play mate. I have a pup that I consider quite a sissy compared to all the rest i have had, but when it came home at 6 weeks after about 3 days the old lady's puggle was in need of some serious therapy. Is it possible that another dog put the hurt on yours? I wouldn't be pleased witht hat kind of behavior towards another dog, people shyness on the other hand is a different situation with a new dog in a strange environment.

don't know the situation on where the dog came from but I'd be sending it back for a replacement or refund, if you aquired the dog at 4 months I would have to think that somebody knew what they were selling you when they should have kept or destroyed it.

I experiance with this. I got a plott pup at 3 months old he was really timid. If anybody he didn't now would come around he would hide untell they left. I brought him inside and he stayed inside for about 6 months got use to the family. That dog is an allstar he has no quite will run all day and all night untill he can't move anymore. He is gritty enough for me he will pull fur and stay with a mean bear. He is still timid around new people and I like it that way because nobody can pick him up unless he nows you. The only thing you got to relise is that tranning is gonna be a little different. Shock collars are not the way to go. This dog of mine is my lead dog. That's. My experiance

exacty my piont hunt . thats how i brought the plot out of his funky disposition . every dog i plan on keeping and not getting rid of down the road spends time in the house with me . and they all wind up being exceptional dogs with a handle on them that all are enviable of .
