Best snow tires for the hunting rig

Post by R.M. »

I've got a 1/2 ton dodge that is getting new tires for the winter. I'm leaning towards BFGs Mud Terrain, but I thought I would see what you guys thought would be a good fit. My main concern is to have good traction through snow for cat hunting.

If you want tires for winter driving why wouldn't you buy winter tires not mud tires? Toyo, Cooper and other make very good winter tires.

I'm kinda partial to Laclede's. There's not a single tire that'll outperform them in the snow....bar none

Thanks guys for the info,

I just got a set of BFG MTs KM2. I'm really happy with them. They are 245/70R17 they're about 30.8" tall and 9.8" wide, the narrow is what I was going for. I don't really have the "monster truck" look anymore but they do get around a lot better in the snow.

I can't argue with you on that one! I looked at the Laclede's site; they have a lot of options! What style would you recommend?

i use nitto trail grappler mts on my diesel, cooper zeon ltz on the suv,and dunlop radial mudrovers that suck on my ford ranger
the trail grapplers are good, toyo mts are good as long as the tread is over half new, bfg mts are good and so are the bfg kos, if yoiu stud them it helps, alot of the time its more of a ground clearance issue around here.

Siped Maxxis Bighorns are hard to beat for snow/winter tires. They are a little soft, hence the good winter tire, so have a set of all terrains or whatever you run handy and swap them often.
