Rinehart,
Ever shoot a female? How bout a couple? Females over your dogs? Now be honest. Ever let your clients shoot kittens in Cliff Creek? Now be honest. Quit pissing in Tessa's Cheerios. You are nowhere near the ethical hunter you portray yourself to be. I might not agree with Tessa or what she writes but you are the one tying your own noose.

This is quite the soap opera. I should tune in to this channel more often. Personally I think everyone has good points. The trick is to take everybodys experience and knowledge and what knowledge you have of your own and make good educated decisions using all of the information given. everyones terrain is a little different and so are the lions that are in them. One thing I haved learned from a couple of old, very experienced houndsmen and from personal experience is that there are such things as cat crossings. A route that lions from all different areas use to cross to new areas. A funnel basically. And yes the same lion will use that crossing more than once and some will only use it once. To predict when the same lion will use that crossing again or if it will is a mystery to all. But I will tell you this. If you can find yourself a real cat crossing. And you don't over hunt it or kill everything that crosses it. You will have a lifetime of successful hunting from that one crossing. The trick is to be a farmer not just a killer. Look at every lion as a wheat field. You only want to harvest when it is mature or your crop isn't going to be worth a shit.
You can't be a pussy all your life!

this is the most intelligent statement made here. the truth included here would make the majority of all houndsmen and women far better hunters and trainers. we really do nothing more than train dogs you know. to watch the dog work and grub out that lion or cat track is the DAY. success cant be based off kills alone, that is not the SPORT! HOUNDSMEN! the tree with dogs worked is SUCCESS.
and on the tom frequenting areas, they DO IT. set yourself up and catch a big tom, don't shoot him. if you are hunting in the right areas and way you should be, he will be there next year, tree him again. i'll wager that you cut his sign very close to the previous year.
there are exceptions to everything. some critters just go, and some don't.

Last year, one of the study lions here in CO. ended up down in NM. He had lost 30+ lbs. and was shot. No idea why he left a terrific food source but he did. I heard he wieghed 105 lbs. when shot.

Don't know who you are, and frankly I don't care. I've NEVER allowed a client to harvest a kitten ANYWHERE, and I'll have words or fists with anyone who says otherwise. Harvesting kittens is ILLEGAL. Everyone has taken a female or two in their career, until they saw the light. Yep, I've killed a couple and have even let a couple hunters take a female back in the day. Whoever you are, I bet you have too. So before you go and hide behind your little three letter bgh name and spout out crap you have no basis to back your accusations with, I recommend you keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, show up at the house and we'll discuss it. You seem to know so much about me, but just in case you don't know, I'm at 138 kara street in the trail creek subdivision in Alpine...................

Jason, I wasn't going to comment on this cause basically what you say or think about me does not matter to me, but I find it funny how you can bad mouth and say things you have no clue about concerning me, but when someone calls you out you blow a fuse and threaten violence. Says a lot about your character.
I like my men like I like my mountains...... Rugged, challenging, and WILD!!!

Re: QUESTIONS? MATURE TOM
One of our collared toms was killed today, his GPS collar quit working about 4 months after we put it on so we had no idea where he had gone.
We weighed him just shy of a 90 lb and not 2 yr old when collared.
Lost him completly until he was treed last winter, so we knew he was still alive up to that time....then this Nov. a land owner got him on trail cam as regular as clock work 5 times !!!!
His collar I am hoping will still have some usable data...it appears he was a "Resident" tom about 4 years old when killed ....tooth submission should give some info...
He likely never ventured far from where we first collared him in Feb.of 2010 just kept out of the way from getting killed until today.
It's interesting how we learn new information not only from the GPS collars and the trail cameras but also when a lion is taken under a sport hunting license....

I have been a member and reading this site since it was shadetreeforum. I don't post much, I just enjoy reading posts from some of the more educated houndsmen.
Now that that is said, I am sick of the B.S.
The last straw is screwing with bgp. I don't know or care what she has caught or treed but all I can see is she has studied and researched her quarry. She has posted knowedgable and infomative posts. She is doing the same thing each and every one of us has had to do. Some of you guys are just dicks.
