Re: Houndmen always getting put out
I dont have a answer, im sure no one does, what we do know is the anti's are only growing and getting stronger. the problem with most houndsmen is we cant get along and stand toghther.its always a comp of who's the better hunter and has the better dogs.even more so in oregon and washington, sure we all have a few closer hunting buddies that we get along with, But If some houndsmen is on a cougar or bear permitt, people talk s*** about them and there dogs to try and get there foot in the door with the timber companies, I know arguing has gone on before the seasons closed, but it has only got worse... but what do you expect, we have plenty of bear, cat,and lion to hunt. and if guys arnt on a permit, they got nothing to loose. alot of the "old timers" moved, or retired from hunting, and alot of the younger guys are raised outlawing and dont mind hunting that way. so what to do????????

If it were me I think I whould find the guy that put up the gate.
If you have hunted there before and treated his property like it was yours he might let you hunt there still.
Volinter to fix fence or help him dig post holes anything is better than sitting on your can feeling sorry for one self

The hound council and lots of hound hunters fought. If you were there fighting, you should know that. Most hound guys have limited resources and I think that was the biggest problem. A lack of money.
Don't buy the hype.

Well, you just listed why I moved. The culture in Washington won't be good for houndsmen for many years to come. If it ever is good again. I don't personally hold the belief that we have gone past the point of no return but it will take some big changes. There and nationally. I actually think I know who you are by reading some of your posts and you're more than welcome to come run in Utah with me if you want. There is lots of public land but lots of hunters, too.

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
LACOON69- The Real Question is " Are Washington State Hound Hunters ready to step up to the plate and educate the Game Commission and Public on How bear hunts are conducted in the State of Washington"? Many houndmen including myself have been very selfish in the way we have conducted ourselves. By hunting for the Game Dept. and Timber Companies, we have only divided ourselves for a short term fix to keep our hounds in the woods. But in return, we have gained great knowlege on how the whole system works. From the permit process, to the disposal of Spring bear hides, to how snaring takes place; I believe we have enough data to change things in Washington State- For the sake of All Houndsmen! Public Disclosure is a wonderful thing! Are we going to be a Washington State Hound Council that is here to promote Field Trials, or do we want to lobby to get our hunting with our hounds back? I think 2012 may be the year to just do that! Any thoughts?
WORK IS FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO HUNT WITH HOUNDZ
Re: Houndmen always getting put out
I agree Darvin, If we do not join together we will never acomplish anything.
Alot of people say we wont get anything back in this state but if we dont try we will never know.

X2
I know that with me working from home full time now, My Goal, is I'm hoping to make the time and make it a point to attend the Commission meetings and the department so they know who I am. I just need to Figure out how not to forget them,
Anyone that can help remind me of any important dates, I would appreciate it, I'm not the best with Keeping a schedule.
