New to big game hunting with dogs (CA)

I am originally from Central California and have hunted normal big game without dogs with my dad since I was 10 and used to only use dogs to hunt birds. I am currently still in college but once I get out and get my job I plan to get started on hunting with dogs in California. Just joining this site so that I can gather as much information as possible on training and hunting the dogs before I actually do it and will also be looking, in the future, to purchase a training hound and a few pups to start up my own pack with the right breed and bloodline. My main focus would be pig and bear hunting.

Visalia, CA but I'm going to school in the Bay Area right now.

Nice. Where do you hunt in the coastal mountains? I've always just hunted in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I am at UC Berkeley by the way.

Wherever I can. just starting out running hogs, starting two dogs right now my catahulla got hurt so had wait till now for her be able to run. just need to get on some pigs before these pups get to big

Do you have your own wild hog to train your pups with?

No. to many neighbors or I would. the guys that got me into it quit right before I got my dogs been trying to do it on my own . Hard to find real people to help you out if don't have property to let them hunt on you ass out. Just my experience so far. hope to get some help one day.

Yeah, hunting big game with dogs privately doesn't seem like its very popular in California.
