Re: nh houndsmen
if you read this on page 24 the bear population is not on the decline the state is trying to add bear in some units and reduce in others although some points are good they are looking for 5000 but is on the rise in most areas read the article if you think its on the decline and you can show me actually show us all where you get your information i myself dont care to kill a bear either to me its about training of the dogs and making them the best they can be seiing many bear every year I do enjoy talong people who have never shot a bear young or old its a good feeling to make someones dream come true! I have also hunted with some true bear hunters in the new england region and havent found one that can tell always male from female but wither way the bear need to last but i dont think the houndsmen are going to be the downfall if we take 30 a year and there are 200 more taken you do the math...

Re: nh houndsmen
you mis my point the hounds men can make a difference because you can tell 90% of the time if they are male or female and let the females go. have you ever heard of telling the males from females by the hairs i talk about abet not. i grew up with some of the best hounds men and woodsmen and sportsmen i know. ones that the resource always came first deferent from most that a kill is all that they are after. as far as the bear population there are six regions that the state has a population goal. in the six regions four have never reached the goal and are on the way down two are over and on the way down. ill try to post this data when i can figure out how to (don't have a scanner). i wonder what it means when the average age of the male bear in the last 14 years is cut right in half? i would like to know how many that have been following this already new how to tell the difference from male and female this way.i show every one that i take out what to look for. one is a 12 year old with better eyes then me she can pick them out every time.
Re: nh houndsmen
u have to mantain the sow pop also nothing wrong with killing some sows during the season.its how u keep a health bear population in check ,there isnt much difference from deer u have to keep the sow to boar ratio close just like does to buck ratio.
