Had a bear bite my hound down thru the top of the nose and upper jaw. Ended up breaking the upper jaw and part of the top plate. The break is between the last two teeth. The vet that saw him said that she would recommend taking the dog to an orthopedic to possibly get a plate put in on the upper jaw to hold it together so it would heal. She said fortunantly the teeth are still lining up right and it was a chance it may heal but everytime he eats or laps water it moves decreasing the chance of it healing. Va. Tech is about the only place that will mess with it and I don't have several thousand dollars to spend at this time. What do you think the chances are of his jaw healing?
Thanks

Re: a_olly Broken Jaw
I had a german short hair pointer get hit by a car a year ago and it broke her bottom jaw up kinda by the joint and the vet put a muzzel on her just tight enough that she could get her tonge out and lap water and so I could put soft food in her mouth. She had the muzzel and a halow on for 8 weeks for it to heal. The muzzel that they put on her was just made out of vet wrap so when it got dirty I could put another one on her. She was also on antibiotics.
Hope this helped.
