how long to run pregnant hound

how long does everone run pregnant hound,i was thinking maybe the first month would be ok?iwould like to run her as long as possible,any suggestions? thanks mike

I was told by a fellow michigan resident you can run them up to 30 days after they are bred and we did and didnt have any issues with the puppies.

I have always ran my dogs up until 2 weeks before they are due, keeping them in shape helps a lot with the birthing. I also have the pups weaned at 4 weeks old, and have the Mom's back in the woods. They barely even look like they had pups and are right back into shape, 6 weeks total they are out of the woods is all.

when weaning at 4 mo is there any special treatment for the female after weaning? any chance of milk fever etc. thanks, don

I don't think there is a Vet in the US that would agree with running females 2 weeks before they are due. Thats not good advise. If the female were to over exert herself which would be very easy to do while running game, they could deplete the oxygen supply to the pups. This could be hard to detect until you found out later in the pups life. Why would you want to take this chance, just doesn't make sense to me.

ya i think i will stop runnin if she starts showing she pregnant.2 weeks before due date does seem a little to close.thanks for all of the advice
