320 vs 220

im not sure if this has already been talked about, but i have 2 or the 220's and was thinking about getting a 320 and selling one of the 220's.
what are the main differences between the two? i know i can only track 10 dogs with either unit(thats why i have 2 of them). but i was wondering when i scroll in the map view, if the screen was faster on the 320 then the 220.

Its alot faster, the compass is better. The orange is awsome ( i dropped mine the first night i got it and was able to find it easy) I like the birds eye view, its not a huge advantage but its neat. All around I think it functions better. But mine eats batteries twice as fast as the 220.

Thought i would tell you how bad mine is with batteries. At about half batt. life the backlight will not work to conserve energy. Last sunday I was out all day and ended up using 6 batteries to keep the backlight. If I had waited until they fully died i would have used 4

I use the 220. What gives the 320 the extra 2 mile range? Is the difference in range noticable?

Mack. the extra range claim comes from the longer rubbery duck antenna that comes with it.

As for batteries. It is best to use rechargeables in them. I get a full day from mine with them. Good batteries make a huge difference in everything. Had my daughter pick me up one for our shock system. She brought home a heavy duty cheapy. Pulled the trigger twice and it was dead!

Just a better unit overall.

I just got the flexible antenna for my 220 in the mail today. I had the expandable/foldable antenna and loved but I lost it while hiking into a lion tree. My 220 should have the range of the 320 with the aftermarket antenna. Doesn't seem like theres enough of a difference in the 320, using twice as much juice isn't worth the fancy orange case and higher price tag. I plan on running the 220/DC30 setup until a reliable system with significantly longer range hits the market.

+1 The compass needs to be calibrated more often on the 320 and it takes a lot longer to do so. The 320's are battery eating SOB's! I do not find a range difference with the 320 or 220 tho it does make a diffference if you sue the longer 320 anntennae.

Oh one feature I have never used since all my budds are cheap asses and havnt bought a 320 yet. You can share collar info wirelessly so that you dont have to spend 30 minutes synching collars

You really need to be using the rechargeable batteries. Anything else is going to add up fast, and like normal the rechargeable will save you money. 4pk of energizer with charger under $30.

I use the new advanced lithium batteries in my units. I own both 220 and 320. I can get almost a week on the 320 with these batteries. However they cost about 8-9 bucks for 4 of them!

plott/walker Are gang got 7, 320 units this fall. We run coyotes 5/6 days a week and no one in the group has any trouble with the 320 at all. I do agree that you need to run rechargeable batteries in the 320. I get about 2 days out of a set of batteries .
