coon feeders

Postby pogo56 » Wed Jul 25, 2007 4:16 pm

i run coon feeders in the fall time, i use a 55 gallon drum with a five gallon bucket in the bottom (5 gallon pail is upside down) with 1 1/2 holes cut arround the bottom bout and inch or so up.....i use corn with coolaide sprinkled on top...or you can use tuna fish, just cut top off and drain juice over corn.....but the hummm dinger of them all is alittle choc syrup....that will drive them crazy....i also will pick up some molassas from the feed store by the 5 gal pail for like $13 and mix that with the corn... you can also do the same with a 5 gallon pail, ill see if i can get some pictures and send them to ya.....

i tried that coon fuzion and that coon potion...didnt care for eather of them....dont get me wrong that fuzon fed coon but the stuff cost what $16.00 and $12.00 shipping....for a total of $28.00...i could have bought 4 or 5 bags of corn for that amount... here is a pic of the feeders i use...i think they work better than the barrels i used.....i put 5 gallons of corn in each one and it will last as long as one tub of that coon fuzion...but i poor some powred jello into the tire on top or the corn....its got a sweet tast to it and the coon seem to like it....and its dirt cheep if you have a dollor store arround you can get like 3 boxes for a buck...

A good feeder and bait is to take an old tire with rim and drill four hole in it and fill it with fish and dog food or sweets

Goto Biglots and pick up a bag of dog food, $3 35lbs
Crack corn $13 50lbs, And 5gal buckets,
Cut a hole in the side/bottom of the bucket about the size of the PVC pipe. Place a PVC pipe in the bottom of the bucket. The PVC pipe is cut in half inside of bucket. And then place a wedge of wood or plastic on each side of PVC pipe inside of bucket, Seal PVC and Wedge in place. Then fill it up with the dog food and crack corn. Tie if off a tree that is leaning and you done.
You will have enough to fill it 4-5 times. It work every time. No reason to go over board unless I was planning on catching a coon in a cage. Just want to start a dog off the bait for training.

Been working allot and hunting training the boys. Its getting harder and harder to go out since the prices of gas keeps going up. $3.25 today. sucks looking to downsize my truck and pick up a yoto or ranger
