Here's a new one for me. I just recently got a new male pup around 8 months old intact, and he's startin to fit in around here with my female 8 month old pup (not related) and older male. I just heard a ruckus outside and looked out the window to find my female, mounted on top of the male pup and he didn't like it, guess he likes to be on top
Bass-ackwards?
Bass-ackwards?
Alright,

So, what the heck is this about, is she coming into heat or just screwing around, no pun intended? Thanks

Re: Bass-ackwards?
She is just dominating him, leting him know she is bigger and badder than he is, or at least she thinks she is right now.
Re: Bass-ackwards?
Like the previous guy said, but also a sign of a bitch coming into heat.
Re: Bass-ackwards?
yeah she thinks she the top of the pile, but really she's half his size...i kinda thought it might be a dominance thing, cause this male is just kind of happy go lucky, but i've never had a female do that. seen males do it a lot. anyway, we'll have to keep our eyes peeled...what are the first signs of female coming into estrus besides this so I know when to separate her? thanks
Re: Bass-ackwards?
I always look for humping, swelling around the vagina, and the temperament of the dog. My dogs get grouchy in heat. I also handle my dogs every day so I hope to notice problems before they happen. Although I may have a oops myself... male pup got off the chain one day. Time will tell. I normally would of had my females in my dog proof kennel but our barn was under construction.
