Good feed, dogs did well, but 36.00 a bag got to high for me. Diamond lamb and rice for now a little cheaper and I don't have to buy 10 bags at a time.

I really dont care for Black Gold, I fed it for about six months and my dogs lost a ton of weight. I would feed at least double the recomended amount and I just couldnt keep the weight on em. I tried three different blends and had the same results.

I get a 50# bag of Black Gold black bag for $24. I feed my 60# Bluetick 5 cups a day and he's getting a little pudgy. All the others get 4 cups and they all dig in every time I feed. They love Black Gold. I was feeding Hunters Edge until they went from 50# to 40# bags and the price went up $15.00 a bag. On top of that, the dogs wouldn't eat Hunters Edge after they came up with their "new" formula.

I bought a pallet of Black Gold dog food a few years ago. I was feeding the black bags and the dogs really liked it, then about half way through the pallet my dogs stopped eatting it and started loseing weight, so I got stuck with half of a pallet of food my dogs wouldn't eat.

A few years ago I was feeding Pzazz then switched to black gold. I had to feed mine twice as much (7or 8 cups) at least to keep any wieght on them. I feed the costco kirkland brand now and they seem to do great on it. I get it for about $26 for 40 lbs and I feed about 4 cups to each dog now in the winter.

i have wanted to try the black gold but the convenience of the diamond high energy is too good to pass up. can pick it up on my way home from work and get it for $19.00 a bag for a 50# bag. i used to feed PZAZZ dog food and absolutely loved it but with every feed, they each batch would look different. you could have one bag that would be nice and dark and oily and the next batch would be damn near yellow and dry as a popcorn fart. i have learned the hard way but when my dogs start losing weight when they have been on the same food and not running they may be an underlying issue. possibly worms. i usually try to switch wormers every once in a while because i have heard of the worms becoming immune to certain wormers. Anyhow, i am open to anything that is cheaper but still good for my dogs. raw meat is a good alternative that i feed in the winter to cut down on the food bill a little and it is good for them also.

Switching feed is a must for (most) hounds, it is a good practice for everyone to do in their kennel 2 - 3 times a year.
Every brand and type of feed is made differently and when you think it out how well do people do on the same food for months...they may look fat but bet they'er not in real good condition health wise..
Feed cost seems to be the biggest single point as to what hound guys feed...$50 compared to $29 a bag is a sure enough good reason, but I find mixing those high dollar feeds with something of the lower cost that still has a good protine and crude fat % works and puts the cost at a level that can be affordable.
Raw meat in my opinion is a huge factor in hound conditioning and health and hounds should not go without alot of it, he's just a domesticated wolf if you look at it and they NEED RAW MEAT..
For the first time in many a year I had to give my hounds wormer, not sure where or how they picked up worms but it happens.
Tables or liquid wormer...not sure what is better but I would think if you have hounds that are having an amunity built up to one type of wormer the first wormer you gave them is no good..
You can do alot of damage to a hound if you give them to much , wormer is a poisin so use with caution..
