I think its great that your trying to fix the classifieds problems. I stopped using the site just cuss there were so many classified adds. Every time I would click on new posts It looked like Craigs list. I think it would be great to seperate the Classified adds completlely that way if guys want to ask questions let them. And the rest of us that just want to read storys and BS can do so with out weeding through all the stuff for sale.

anyone posting stuff for sale all the time or every once in a while will like it the old way. but i can see why buddy would want it this way, the guys that really care about keeping their adds on top are having to pay for it.

if you have a litter of pups for sale its hard to not be able to say hey guys I have enough on the waiting list etc.

I see the good and bad in this. But think once we get used to it it won't be so bad.

You can still edit your posts to include anything you may have left out (ie you get tons of PMs asking the same questions) or to let everyone know whats still available/not available, and update pics ect.

I think it will leave room for more people to try and take advantage of people without being called out. But if enough of us "Report Post" then Buddy could look into it? But most people should do there homework before buying anything from anyone, and it shouldn't be up to Buddy or the Mods to hold there hands for them.

I know a lot of people are concerned about there post being "bumped" but if it really bothers you, pay for an add. But with people not being able to reply and BTT ther same add 500x a day, posts won't get pushed back 3 or 4 pages as fast.

On some other forums where there are higher priced items being sold in their classified section, they have an area where you can report good and bad transactions. You can post, for example, that Redwood Coonhounds paid quickly. Or that Grzyadms4x4 shipped quickly or however it is. It's not quite like Ebay or anything, just an open thread. Just an idea.

Possibly delete or move any ad or sale item to the classified section. Too many ads in the wrong section

Its all about money to the website .Its not enough with all the commercial ads on here but now if you want your ad seen until you make a sale you are going to have to pay for it.
Why all the baloney about improving the site did you think were to stupid to see what its all about?
We the hunters are the ones to make the site sucessfull lest you forget that.
Im sure this post wont be on here long but I think the least we could ask for is honesty .If you want this to be a pay site just say it without all the smoke screen.Coon hound central did that and how did that work for them?
They act as if there doing us a favor by allowing us to use the site while we are making then money. I for one will be moving on to other sites There out there.

Yes, I make money on this website by selling the advertisement on the outside of the site, those Ads on the Right top and Bottom People pay me to put there stuff in there, I actually use those areas to show ads for my Company as well.

Your catching me as I'm doing taxes, So I've been looking at how much this site and my server cost me. I'm not hiding anything so here are the numbers.

Here are the numbers. 186 dollars each month to keep the server and a website this large up and Running I Could easily pay 40 dollars a month for hosting for my Dugraphics website But BigGameHoundsmen is too large.

12 months of that = $2232 Dollars I spent Last year in 2010 for you. And I forced you to pay for that, And I tried to rub it into your face as often as I could.

In November 2011 I paid a Security company $500 dollars to make this server Secure and tighten up everything so that all your info was Protected. I probably should have Charge you for that also But I didn't. So now we are at 2700 dollars spent last year.

Right now I'm looking at a company to try and fix a couple things on this website and update the forum. I'm waiting on some Bid's but I'm guessing it will be 500-1000 dollars.. Not sure yet. - Wasn't planning on charging for that.

Now I get some value out of that and I get to write it off as advertisement Expense So I'm not complaining or Asking for people to send me money.. I don't want your money.

And If you want Free Classifieds. There is not problem with that You can still have Free Classifieds.. I'm not changing anything about being able to Post your stuff for sell.

But If you want to spam the site and Hard Sell, Promote, BUMP, BTT and Keep your advertisement on the top. AND you Decide you should do that for Free while I pay allot of money for it. NOPE I'm not going to allow that, that's just where I draw the line.

It's not about the money.. It's more about people abusing the rules and Ever morning I would get on here I would have pages of Stupid Posts in the classified sections that didn't ad any value to the website.

I don't Really care if someone buys the ad or not, You won't see me promote or advertise the fee, I sell Hound Supplies, I'm not in the business to sell classifieds..

I just figured those people that Make the effort to keep their ad on top, I figured they would not value the site enough to help pay for it.. (which most of them have not)


PS. Look at the views in the classifieds section.. Those free ads are still getting the same amount of Views for Free... There isn't any need for someone to pay for the sticky.

i can see both sides of this, and buddy did show us all the money he has to pay to keep it going, but what do you make on all the advertising, and dugraphics because of this site????.... its not really anyones buissness but yours, I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE HAS SUCH A HARD TIME NOT LOOKING AT THE CLASSIFIEDS!!!! if you dont like how people talk back and forth then dont read it.its one small section in the site! people will still use the site im sure, but when you have a few things for sale, like a litter or something, i can see how it gets to be a pain. i 100% dont agree that we should have to pay if a add is on the top, but if thats the way it is then so be it.
why couldnt we just not reply to adds, and if you wanted to delete and repost it with changes you could, and it would go to the top, if someone wants to do that 50 times a day, then thats their call to sit in front of a computer and do that.

All im saying is if the majority of us dont want it this way, i dont see whats the big deal in changing it back. better to make 100 happy users, the yourself and 4 others.i thinking ordering threw steve white sounds better by the day.....

Yes, I completely agree, That right there is priceless, I've been able to make a full time job out of DuSupply and I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do it without this website. So yes.. It's worth a hell of allot more to me than 3K per year, I'm definitely not arguing that point.

It's why I happily pay for the website because almost everyone on It has done me right, I'm sure I could sell it quickly for 20 or 30K on a website auction site, I've had folks ask me for a price, I could sell it for 30 times what I got it for. But I won't do that, I'm trying to Give up my power on it and give the users the control of it.

As for the classifieds, Unless I allow everyone to Get a Free Sticky and they could stick their ad on the top. But that kind of Kills the whole idea of the sticky and allowing someone to have a way to keep their ad on the top.

So It's honestly not about selling sticky's for me.. It's about giving folks a way for their ad to stand out. What gives folks a pause to buy ads? I don't want allot of Sticky's, Ideally only 2-3. If I wanted to sell allot of them I dang sure wouldn't charge so much money.

The whole point is I don't want to sell them. I can raise the price.. The price doesn't matter to me, I just want a number that not everyone and their brother is going to buy. Only a handful.

But those guys that want to pay for it should get something for their money.

I personally would like to donate the money for the stickies, I just don't like opening my mouth about it because then that creates a headache for me to try and keep track.
(Remember I still have 200 and something dollars that I need to figure out what to do with the Youth Fundraiser from Twists Puppy raffle, I'm sure someone could try to accuse me of Stealing that money, But the truth is I'm busy, and I don't know what the hell to do with it, If someone could find me something and the website aggreed, the cash would be donated tomorrow..)

I would much rather at the end of the year raffle off something for Free on the website to users, or do something. Notice the bottom line of this post I did last week.. before any of this Money was mentioned I was trying to think of something to do for the members of this website.

Just so everyone knows, I'm not really mad, I'm just explaining what's going on behind the scenes here..

I just don't have a problem Laying my cards on the table, I normally just don't like to be so public about it, however if people want to call me to the carpet, I'm more than happy to explain my intentions and thoughts.

This Change is NOT about Money. If that's the way it is being taken, I'm happy to give two choices.

#1 Remove the stickies completely
#2 Donate the money from the stickies.

The Third option, Well I'm trying to find quotes right now out to get a bid on what it would cost me to have the classifieds broken into it's own section for you guys, so that I could open things back up for you guys and so it won't get in the way of the guys that want to read about hunting and not the classifieds..

I'm not going back to how it was before. It's either going to be better, or the way it is right now..

Anyways, I've sent out three request to three different PHP Programers to help with this website.

I know most people do appreciate it, so I'm not too worried about it and I'll continue trying to figure out the Middle ground, I"m not at the top Screaming Look at what I'm trying to do for you guys I'm not looking to do this to get credit, I'm not doing it to keep Customers with Dusupply.com, I'm trying to figure out something out and even open to spending more money to try and make something work for both sides because that's what this site is about.

At the end of the day, I would hate to loose your business . But if this website is what makes your decision as to where you buy from, I'm sure your not the only customer that I'm loosing. I'm not going to be able to make everyone happy and I can't hold myself Hostage to decisions I make here Based on Money.

I think I've explained myself, (hopefully??), Perhaps I've pissed some more people off (Probably??) .

I've offered the money from the ads, I've offered to try and pay to try and fix the problem and get a system that allows the classifieds to become more separated from the rest of the site,

I'm just not offering to go back to letting the classifieds rule the site.
