The more the merrier. Nothing quite as frustrating as wanting to shock your retards and not being close enough.

Its really up to how much you want to spend. Everyone always says you got to have the 2 mile range. I got the one mile and love it I have never needed to use it at more then 1/2 mile at the most. I will not shock my dogs if I cant see them and know what they are running.

Agreed. I have the 1 mile and have had no problems "not being close enough"...but its personal preference. I have a 1 mile and the friend I hunt with has a 2 mile. Their dogs are just aren't as obidient as mine I've decided

Re: one mile or two mile tri tronic
This is almost silly. How the heck do you know what your dog is doing two miles away. Why in the world would you be shocking a dog that you are not sure what he's doing. This is how dogs get ruined with shock collars.
I've watched guys screaming for their dogs to come back, then they shock them. Well the dog is heading back in, maybe not as fast as you want. But the dog doesn't know that. So you just shocked him for doing exactly what you want him to do. In the dogs mind, he just got shocked for coming to your call. Guess what he's going to do next time. He's totally confused right now. Lay off the shocker, it not a fix all.

First of all one mile or two mile you probably are not gonna get that type of range . secondly if you can't stop them within one mile your not gonna do it in two .

better off with the 2 mile, the farther the better, because the type of terrian, and heavy cover can cut the distance down.

on coon or bear we always try to get in front of the dogs or just behind them when they cross a dirt road then use the garmin to find the exact spot to were they crossed and check for tracks
if ya any kind of houndsmen you know when things are going wrong and you should be damn close to them and fast to cut them off trash heck i like to bring them to there knees once in there life instead of hacking at them here and there heck its even worst if you have smart hounds who start on deer then get tired and switch over you need to be on your toes or the hounds will never get it
we meet a guy in the woods one time our hounds run a bear threw there well this guy was listening to his hounds saying they were running a bear well we said when was the last time they treed one he said two years ago we walked away they were running a coyote i dont think he will ever figure it out at least his dogs are having fun
yards not miles
